Came across a a good deal on bushmaster ACR and I am really considering buying. I've always thought it was a cool rifle. I don't know much about them as far as reliability and quality goes. I have a bushmaster now and it has performed great. Most of the reviews/opinions I hear are negative but I think it is due to bushmaster not releasing swappable barrels and the price tag. If anyone has any experience or advice with the rifle let me know. Anything to look for when buying one of these used? Thanks in advance!

If it's made in Windam, ME, it's probably of good quality (read pre-remington).

The original Magpul rifle yes, the later issue and later issues, hell no

With the price of Bren 805s and Scar 16s lately, no way in hell I'd buy an ACR. If someone gave me one I'd turn right around and sell it for a Scar unless it was an early production model. And even then I'd likely sell it pretty quickly.

Any reason why? I have thought about the Scar but from what I understand the Scar 16 isn't worth the money. The 17 is worth every penny as the system really shines in the bigger caliber.

The new ACRs are crappy and the Bren can be had for like $1,200 new right now. The ACR offers no advantages over the standard AR platform and is so much more expensive. The 16s is not the gun the 17s is, but it's still a fantastic platform and better than the ACR.

Crappy as in reliability issues? Poor coating? I ask because anything negative I have found about the gun says "they suck" or something but I don't know what that means.
