PXL_20210206_032620718.jpgThe ejector on my Glock 21SF broke today. That sure does make it eject funny. Everything seems to be breaking this week.

On round 31,799 and we get legit malfunction #5. Not having easy access to cheap steel ammo has really put a damper on shooting this thing.

That is all.

"On round 31,799..."

Well, let's see:

That's 636 boxes of ammunition (50 rounds a box). I think at the current market price at the time we bought for my son's Christmas Present (to go along with the CCW course gift card), we paid $38 for a 50 round box of ammo.

So that represents about $24,000?

If you had to do it today, sure. Figure wolf/tula averaged about $160/case over the 3-ish years I've been using that gun, that's only a $5k expenditure. Then you figure the delta between steel and brass over that same time period which means I saved ~$1300. So even if steel wrecks yer gunz! I would have been able to throw away to G34s in that time and still been mostly even. I'll take that for the luxury of not having to handload all my 9mm.

The best part though is when you're at a match and people talk crap about your gear/ammo and then you beat those people soundly and then declare "I'm not that good, it's the ammo that makes the difference".

My very first uspsa match.. G23 with peep sights, leather holster, 2 extra mags in some cheap holder, and a bunch of magtech ammo. Total newb.
Much harumph-ing among the regulars.
I finished 4th out of 12. I didn't even know, I wasn't there for any glory. I had to find someone to ask just out of curiosity.
No-one came and talked to me afterward.
