Had my new can am xmr 650 our yesterday for a nice ride. We rode for a few hours, and on the way back to the trucks I noticed my check engine light was coming on, but would go back off. Can any one here tell me how to pull codes. Only instructions I’ve been able to find were for models that had a regular key, mine has the dess system. I don’t know if it threw a code or not but figured that would be a good place to start checking. If the problem keeps up it will go back to dealer under warranty, I haven’t had it a month.

Sucks, but I'm guessing you'll have to take it back

Take it in and let them look at it and see what the deal is. I know there is a way to do it on some of them, even with the DESS but its been a long while since Ive been on one of the Can Am forums.
I would also suggest getting signed up on one of the forums. They can be helpful.

I hate to sound like I'm insulting your intelligence because it in no way is my intent. I also don't want to mirror the IT geeks out there that are used to asking folks if they tried unplugging the router and waiting a few minutes before plugging it back in.:D

That said, have you tried disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for awhile before hooking it back up?

Yep tried unhooking the battery and then took it for a ride yesterday. Check engine light came on a time or two when starting it, but went out after a few seconds. I’m gonna talk to the dealership about it this week.

Every Polaris that I’ve ridden with so far has either broke the front or rear axle..... every one. One did it twice just going into a hole.

Now don't be a hater...some of us really like our popo's, riding hard, going deep, and don't have those issues...;)

How many hours are on it? My Outlander throws a "maintenance required" code at start up every 50 hours. Apparently if you change the oil yourself, it will throw the code because the dealership didn't reset it. Only way to get it to go away is to pay the dealership over $400 for an oil change. I have learned to ignore it.

It has around 48 hours on it right now, light started momentarily around 45ish. Still doesn’t come on and stay on, just for a few seconds at a time.

I know this is a different beast but I had a 1996 Chevy HD2500 pickup that every spring and fall when the temperature changed, the check engine light would light up for a couple of weeks then go off. I bought the truck new in 1996 and had it until 2001. It did it every spring and fall until I traded it. I just ignored it.
