**Can this be a sticky?**We should start a tool loan thread!

Gun related:
Tools needed to complete an AR lower. Probably easier to swing by here and knock it out in 30-45 minutes.

Not gun related, but things people like to borrow instead of buy:
8' step ladder
12' step ladder
28' extension ladder
All are Type 1A (300lb rated) fiberglass ladders

North Charlotte/Concord/Huntersville area.

Would anyone have a set of 308 go/no-go gauges that they would loan out? Building an AR10 and want to make sure the Spinta precision bolt and the Criterion barrel match up ok :)

The main point for borrowing a tool is you only need it once, like a sight pusher. Why spend $200 on a good one for a one time job, unless you want to be like a couple of slackers I know who buy something, use it, then return it as "not meeting their needs". That's out and out fraud in my book

Can we start a Where Did I Put It? thread? I have a rear sight tool and 2 front sight tools for Glocks. I cannot find them anywhere.

I need a couple tools to cut and thread an AR22 barrel.

Anybody got an annular cutter, 90° cutter, and muzzle crown cutter I can borrow for a few days?

All with 22 guide.

I can donate beer, donuts, etc. :)

Look for a PM

Thanks! Did the trick and now the front sight is where I want it. I'll return the item via Priority Mail, hopefully tomorrow. Better than S&W's estimated 3-5 week turnaround.
Not to discredit the gunsmith I went to to have it drifted, but there is no way it moved regardless of his efforts and measurements and claims. Sounded like a 22 when it finally broke free in the dovetail today.

Anyone within an hour’s drive have a sight pusher that I can use on my M&P9 front sight TODAY? I borrowed 2 MGW glock tools from a friend but they won’t work on my M&P.
@JimB @Bailey Boat ??

Sure, you want to borrow or just bring it over?

Thankfully Jim was gracious enough to let me swing by and use his sight tool this afternoon. Just like @MochaJoe said, my M&P 2.0 front sight made a loud pop as it broke free of the dovetail.

Ordering my own sight tool tomorrow (FYI in case anyone in the future needs to use it).

But ordering the red anno'ed version, same seller/maker/design, $15 cheaper just as it is on ebay. For some reason it's priced higher on Amazon.

i loaned a post hole digger it came back covered in dry cement, last time
Sorry to hear that. Classic case of people having little respect for other's belongings.

A little off topic, but this is where my ease of being an @$$hole comes in handy. My neighbor came by to borrow a tool and I told her, "You know, it's a common rule that guys shouldn't loan out tools... As long as it comes back exactly like this, we'll be fine tough." She responded, "You sound like you're joking, but I know you're really not". I just smiled. We're still friendly.

Loaned out my skid steer. Came back with baldish tires and a bent bucket.

Let's bring this thread on into 2019:

I would like to swap out the sights on my M&P. And maybe do some trigger work too.
I don't have the equipment/tools needed, or any experience with this kind of work.
I don't like paying somebody to do something I can do myself, I will if I have to, but I'd like to learn to do this myself.
If anyone would be interested in assisting/helping/guiding/overseeing me with this, I am willing to drive to you (within reason) to eliminate the whole "loaning" thing. I live near Smithfield so "within reason" is maybe an hour or so.
Or if someone wanted to loan me the equipment, I will attempt it on my own.
Would gladly pay for the use of the equipment and your time.

Anybody have something with a digging attachment near mocksville? I need to run another drain around the other side of the shop to put in some 8" tile. 75' long ~12"wide, ~2ft deep. I'd be willing to pay for your time/fuel. Trying to avoid the hassle and $350 to rent a mini excavator for a few hours...again. It's a last ditch (pun) effort to dry out the shop.

Plan "B" is to burn it to the ground.

a friend loans his drill to his brother-in-law, gonna put together a picnic table. comes back later in the day complaining. drill bit

not sharp, drill not working anymore. he ran it backwards.

It's all good.
Figured it out and did it the old fashioned way.

I loaned out my extention cable to a friend that had a couple guys fixing some siding a roofing. He goves me back my cable; it was like someone had attached it to drill and spun it untill the twist was so tight it would never in a million years come out. To this day I can't figure out how the hell you can even do that on a job in one day. If you have an idea I would love to hear it. He didn't say sorry or even acknowledge there was anything different about the cable I loaned him that morning.

I would hope that all on here would acknowledge any damage that would occur while borrowing someone’s tools and offer to make right. Tools get scratched and such but if you are returning an extension cord all twisted up and don’t say a thing you are a jackbutt!

There are items I loan out. There are items I loan to a choice few. Then the are items I don't loan out at all. Then again, if asked, I'll use my stuff to help you almost 100% of the time.

My rule is to give it back in better condition. There is always something: Oil change, new blade, washing...

Contractors, complete strangers and some relatives are a no go.

Yes, I said contractors. I live in one of the first homes in a large subdivision and actually had a "contractor" ask to borrow a HD Little Giant ladder from me.

Friends and personal acquaintances are ok. Mi casa es su casa as long as I don't get screwed.

Does anyone have a .750 Gas Block dimpling jig?

I need to dimple a new BA barrel
Never used a dumpling jig, just test fire to confirm alignment, remove one screw, dimple, reinstall screw, remove other screw, dimple, and reinstall. Done.

Anyone have a gasblock cross pinning jig? Local to Charlotte metro preferred.

I have two of the wrenches for removing a 15-22 barrel. If you’re local and need to borrow one, or just stop by and use it, let me know.

If you’re not, they’re not that expensive...so paying shipping both ways isn’t much of a deal.

I have an AR armorers wrench, castle nut wrench, upper vice block, threading kit for 14x1 AK's. Have a shop press as well.

Looking to borrow an AR upper receiver facing tool. I can cover shipping or come to you (within reason).

Long story short I have a AR upper I would like to face to see if accuracy improves prior to renting a crowning tool.

Can someone explain to me when a sight pusher became something other than a brass punch, and why? Maybe I need understand why I should be using one.
I see a mountain of customer destroyed sights from punches.
It can be done, but its not hard to eff up.

The shock can also make the vile crack and leak out the tritium with no visible damage to the site body.
Then front sight no worky in the dark.
