Looks like it was formed from something else, can you post a pic of the headstamp?
 
Looks like an original coiled brass cartridge. Very nice collectible.
 
Yup, original Martini Henry cartridge and yes, paper patching boolits isn't new and can make some of the old guns capable of amazing accuracy.

Your round is, as stated earlier, very collectable.
 
A friend of mine found an old round similar, but not identical, to that. We found out it was a 577 Snyder. The case was hand rolled copper or brass foil, joining the case head to the bullet. Until then, I never knew they made ammo like that.
 
Yeap, .577/.450 Martini Henry cartridge. Got one round here in Afghanistan that I put on a ATF Form 6A to import (form submitted). Will go with my MkIII M-H

.577/.450 and the round that replaced it the .303 British
