SWa.jpg SWb.jpg SWc.jpg SWd.jpg SWd.jpg SWf.jpg SWg.jpg Here for your perusal is Canadian Contract S&W H-E pistol serial number 17464. According to the Smith & Wesson letter this revolver was shipped from their factory on September 23, 1915 and delivered to Remington Arms -Union Metallic Cartridge Company, New York City, agents for the British Government. Any information on unit marking appreciated; a good guess for "1. H.R. 2." might be 1st Battalion, Halifax (or possibly Highland) Regiment, 2nd Division. Note the Dominion of Canada (DNC) proofs on each chamber of the cylinder, C-Broad Arrow Military Acceptance mark on the frame right behind the cylinder and the Inspectors Mark Royal Small Arms Factory Enfield on the frame right above the SW logo.

Very nice! Always liked the SW and Colt .455 Brit contract revolvers. I had a Colt New Service with Canadian property marks that was rechambered to .45 Colt (top revolver). Great revolvers!

Yes; it took some searching to find one that was still in original .455 Webley.
