Surprised I didn’t see a thread about this already, but curious as to everyone’s thoughts on the new release. I know stores are starting to get them in and was wondering if anyone’s had the chance to take one to the range yet and could share your thoughts!

My first thoughts are, it's the "Facebook marketplace special" 2002 honda civic.

That price tag is absolutely bananas for a gun that started life as just a Canik, I don't really care what/who did the R&D on it. And I highly doubt these will see much of a price dip ever, might be cool for a diehard canik collector but I don't really see the point.

I had been following some of the threads to see if it were a worthwhile upgrade over the Rival. Feedback is that it's a flat shooter and very accurate, but reliability seems to be a mixed bag. I've seen several reports of it just barely failing to return to battery, and it being very fussy even after playing spring roulette. At this point, I think I'd sooner just port the barrel on the Rival if I were feeling frisky.

I know it's a different model, but an Elite Combat with Disruptive Defense Comp and you're nearly there in performance, and surely you can source small parts for less to get very close to the final product. The comp is also avaliable for SFX Rival. No lightning cuts, or engraving, but you'll also still be closer to the $600 region for gun+comp, depending on who what and where you source from. Even the Rival S, you can trick out for less than this, and atleast it will operate.

This just seems cash grabby

I have one on the way that I managed to snag at MSRP. I also have a Rival-S so it will be fun to have them side by side.

If one wants a full size Canik with a threaded barrel the cheapest options are the METE SFT Pro or METE SFX Pro. I did own one of those before specifically the SFX one. It's a really nice one. Swap in an aluminum trigger shoe and it's almost a rival dark side.

Not interested in anything that can even remotely be tied to John Wick.

I like the regular Caniks though.

Fuquay had it for a good price. Feels good in the hand and a sweet trigger… just picked it up yesterday but no range time yet. Nice bit of kit with it as well.
Also has a slightly deeper optics slide cut, will co-witness with existing sights.
