My workplace is posted (of course). We had 2 cars broken into in broad daylight right in front of the cafeteria, luckily not mine or they would have gotten my carry guns. The infuriating part is een if I caught them in the act there is nothing I could do since

a) can't protect property with force
b) my "force" is in my car anyway

I think the thieves target posted movie theaters, restaurants because they know people will have their carry guns in their car.

You might get away with a gun in a backpack or computer bag, or a pocket gun, but it's risky.

You can prevent the theft or destruction of personal property as long as the force used is ā€œreasonableā€ I thought?

Get a car safe, use it.
They are so cheap today there is no reason not to have one if you have to leave EDC guns in a car. Every time I hear about guns being stolen from cars or trucks I just shake my head.

I have a Hornady brand Rapid safe that is cable tied under the back seat and covered with the floor mat. It won't stop anyone with good bolt cutters and a couple minutes, but then smash and grab thieves don't usually employ bolt cutters.

It's a shame it's illegal to load the spiciest round of ammo with all the powder you can fit in the case, plug a barrel on a cheap gun with a tendency to speedily disassemble, load the round and then leave it for these jackals.

Anyone got a Jennings or Jiminez with a cracked slide they don't need? Can't be a Hi Point they survive intact lol

A little C4 in place of powder works wonders.
Ask the NVA about that.

I don't know about your job, but mine has "security" guards and a badge scanner to get inside. Get a metal stapler, put it in your front pocket for a few days. See if anyone asks you about it.
If not, carry.
what does "security guards" matter?
are they running you through metal detectors? are they wanding you? are they authorized to pat you down, make you empty pockets, lift shirt cavity search?

I told our old HR guy that the locker search policy was fine because it was their property, bag searches were annoying, but probably legal, then when the car search policy came around all it did was FORCE people to carry on their body at work in order to keep their jobs.
"but but but... the policy says no guns!"
the policy says you can search everything of mine except my body...

stick a keltec p32 in a wallet holster.

No idea. I don't know if there's a metal detector built in to the mantrap I don't see, or if the cameras are like the ones in Vegas that can see heat.
Likely not. Easiest way to find out, though, is to carry a rod like piece of metal that is completely benign for a few days, and see if you get hassled.

I was surprised to leave my computer console at work one late evening, head to the menā€™s room, and realize that I had been IWB carrying my lightweight Colt Commander for the past 8 hours of my 12-hour shift. Oops.
It is extremely rare for me to go out without a Ruger LCP, at a minimum. I donā€™t want to be like those poor fools at Lubyā€™s when you need the gun. The gun locked in your truck out in 300 yards of parking lot.
But, the RULESšŸ™„
It can be done. I havenā€™t been found out by John Q. Public since I started IWB carry, even at work. Of course, wearing coveralls when I worked out in the refinery, meant a pocket pistol. Better than nothing.

Donā€™t know how much weight you have with management but thereā€™s an argument to be made about them assuming liability when they force you into a position like this.

you cant use DEADLY force.....you can damn sure use force....
im beatin ass if I catch them. A GSW would be less painful. :)
Reasonable force. You can stop them with physical force, if they pull out a deadly weapon, you can match it. Start by slamming them to the ground and take it from there.

In the Carolinas and most places that are not Texas, law does not allow for the use of deadly force to protect property.
If you grab someone to stop them, and they pull out a deadly weapon, you can 100% shoot them.

The statement that you cannot legally, physically intervene is false.

Once the thief escalates the situation by pulling out a deadly weapon, you are in a self defense situation, not a theft prevention situation.

I am pretty sure you can't just go tackle them and "escalate" if they pull out a gun since that would be you being the aggressor in the first place

If you tackle, body slam etc, then step back you have disengaged. If they then pull a gun you should be able to defend yourself. I am not a lawyer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Of course, from a strategic standpoint, if I am going to go physical I am not going to give them a chance to escalate by disengaging.

My dad told me that back in the 50ā€™s he went to some place like a club or a pool hall . Came back out to his car later on, and someone had stole the fender skirts off the back off his car. At the time he said they were expensive, but he got another pair and had a friend of his to weld straight razor blades to the disconnect handles underneath the car. Went back a couple weeks later to the same place. Went in and came out awhile later and found a nice blood trail to a empty parking space.šŸ˜

Luv the trunk monkey....lol. I would get several faux, ostentatious camera looking devices and place around interior. Maybe a snarky "space force vid team" stickers in plain sight too.
Best way to not get eaten is dont look like bait.
