preaching to the choir, i know...here's a quote from a forum i follow:

95 is shut down southbound from I-40 to I don't know where. I tried to get a speedway in Dunn that has gas.
There's a good reason they do, I tried 6 different ways to get to them and couldn't.
Got to Benson and got gas, cash only. Land line phone systems are down. This isn't fun.

It's all I can do to remind my 20 something kids to carry cash, especially when power might be out.
Cash is indeed king. And not Benjamins, but Jacksons.

Indeed.

I've used a few 50s lately. The clerks would hold them up to the light, draw on them with their magic pen, smell them, etc. Lol....
I keep benjamins stashed, but everyone gives them the stink eye, so I treat them as just ammo to buy guns and cheap cars.

While here in the Triad nothing has happened outside of a raining day and the occasional gust, I made sure to have just over a hundred in 20s and small bills just in case

We keep some stashed. It comes in handy. Heard some of the ATMs in SC were out of cash wed and lines at the bank.

Every cashier is like a treasury expert these days. It annoys the hell out of me. When every they check a bill I have them and my change has any denomination of 5 or above I have them check them with thier pen before I take them. They usauuly tell me they have already checked them to which I say I need to see them do it

I like that!

I keep some cash on hand at home just in case, and keep a $20 in each vehicle for the days I forget my wallet and need food or gas.

However, I’m a plastic guy and rarely have more than $20 in my wallet, if anything at all.

Then what you should do is take your pen out and stand there and check every bill they give you. If they ask why you are doing it you just tell them you want to make sure their pen is working. ;) This way you will really hold up the line between you and them checking the bills. Sooner or later people will start complaining.

You'll find that the "older" generation still deals in cash whenever possible. If I'm buying something under 40.00 I pay cash, over 40.00 and it goes on my CREDIT card, NOT my debit card. I don't like people with unsecured electronic systems having access to my checking account.
I keep enough cash on hand to pick up that nice gun I could, might, possibly run across somewhere, anywhere, anytime.... The small bills are kept in the wall safe....
