Caught something I've never caught......

How awesome. A baby loggerhead.
That's a super stand-up thing to do. These things can live to be over 100 years old. I've taken 'rides' with them many times, and they're just like they look..all gentle and easy going

I wonder what they taste like? @thrillhill

They're delicious, that's why they just about got hunted to extinction.

I think they taste like prison time if I'm not mistaken lol.

Federal prison time, and there will be no plea bargaining.

I've been surf fishing ever since I can remember, I've never hooked one. My grandmother hooked one once if it was a true story, she use to tell me she tied a line to her toe once and a sea turtle about took it off LOL. Other than that no one I know has caught one from the surf on a rod and reel.

You know it will come back to that beach once a year looking for you right? :D

You could have at least taken a paint pen to the shell; Sponsored by CFF. Don't tread on me.

I was gonna say ghonerria
I'll bet that I'm not the only one that thought STD.

I was two seconds from posting this:

Pretty cool. Never seen one that small. Hooked a big loggerhead off the coast of Florida when I was young. Had to cut the line. It was like 4-5' across

I took the grandkids to a small state park to fish when they came up for the 4th.
Caught a turtle before I realized what they were doing. They would swim up to the bobber at warp speed and then dive and eat the worm.
Had to cut the hook on the first one and then keep it away from the other fifty.

Kinda like people today, they see a way to get free stuff. They follow the pretty bright object and bam before they know it they're hooked.

And the democrats reel them in.

:p

For a turtle?
But a dang drunk can run you over and be out next weekend to do it again.
Good ole USA where the lives of animals take precedent over the lives of other human beings

Be thankful it wasn't Sand Jiggers

Daughter caught one in the surf last year on a sand flea. Was about 2'. Glad that it was her, gave her a story for life. We only played with it for a few minutes, she got a few selfies.

Sand Jiggers do damage your feet similar to that but that actual picture isn't real. Here's a real pic

Good release,,Im the unlucky guy that catches seagulls and pelicans.. They will fight with you a bit more then that turtle did I bet..

So why is it that birds won't fly into a pool if you tie a couple pieces of line across it, but they'll fly right into my line when surf fishing?

Had more then one old white woman yelling at me from the sand saying she was videoing me and calling the cops because I was trying to free a pelican that was wrapped up in my fishing line while surf fishing.. Cant blame her,, those big birds are not happy and never help you.

Take a beach towel and throw it over the bird. Easier to deal with if they are bundled up. Been there. Done that.

Now thats a good idea Mr Grits,, every one paying attention ??? Pelicans dont hurt much when they bite you, but sea gulls will draw blood..

The fun part of ocean fishing is you never know what's going to happen. My son took me 2 mi out on kayaks to go shark fishing. This turtle snagged my hook with its fin while it was 6" out of the water, we had to paddle/tow him in a mile to free him.

He caught this shark surf fishing a couple weeks ago, it broke a new Penn reel.
