Recently bought this M199A1 compact, and don’t particularly like the oxide finish. I’m thinking of having it cerakoted in semi gloss black. I’m wondering if this will decrease this pistols value? There were a lot of these made, and they were budget models. I’ll leave it alone if it will appreciate much in value. I changed the grips, but still have the originals.

Let it be what it is, and shoot the heck out of it!

You that I love you sis, and I miss seeing you! It’s about time to waste some lead!
Love you too, bro, and I miss you both...I'll see you the minute it cools off!
I have plenty of lead saved up, for sure..... :)

One thing I’ve learned from @BatteryOaksBilly is that you need to be ready to defend yourself whatever the temperature. I’ve been studying during the hot months and feel better for it.

Life is too short to use ugly guns.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder, so do what suits your sense of beauty with your pistol. I like the finish that is on it, but I am not you. Refinishing it, unless I am grossly mistaken, will make it so that it will be considered to have 0.0% original finish if the time ever comes to get an appraisal on it.

My Kimber TLE-RLII was a DOG when I got it - it'd been rattle-canned a couple of times, but I knew it was a runner, because the LEO Armorer I bought it off of used it for competition.

It DID look TOO nice to shoot, for a while... but I'm finally taking ti to the range. I'll post some before & after pictures, when I get back to my home computer. Ditto my S-A Milspec, which I carried for 23 years, before finally doing some cerakote with it! Your Colt looks pretty nice, by comparison, still!

Here we go. TLE RLII, as I received it.

AFTER cerakote, and a few other amenities.

After the crappy rubber (aftermarket) grips barfed onto the frame 🤮, here's what my S-A Milspec looked like.

After going old-school .38 Super gloss black on it (with trigger and other upgrades), it looked like THIS.

I still have the frame, but put a Loaded stainless slide/bbl on it more recently, as I stuck a TRP Operator slide/bbl on the Loaded frame!

Definitely looks great! Who did the cerakote?

Amalon Coatings down in VA did the Kimber. There's a couple places here in Pittsburgh who have done work for me recently (Pittsburgh Cerakote did the S-A Milspec), but in 2009, you pretty much had to have it down OUT of state. Tactical Toolbox in Mapleton, OR did an AR for me at that same time (they did barrel the upper for me, and I'd won one of their cerakoted lowers, so it only made sense to have it all done out there!).
