Here's the target for January:

IMG_0936.jpg

You can get it here: http://www.archerytalk.com/attargets/AT_Bubble_Target_Nicecotty.pdf

Shooting distance is 50yds

Scoring Rules:
1. Take one shot at each blue circle (and the smaller targets within)
2. If the bullet crosses a line, the higher score counts
3. Take five more random shots outside of the blue circles for additional points
4. Total your points for the 15 shots, using the "honor system" below

It's on the honor system. If you shoot at a blue circle area and miss it completely, don't count that as one of your bonus shots and try again on the same blue circle. Treat it like a game of pool (not the December target)...only called shots count. If you score on a target you weren't aiming for, don't add that point value. :D

To give you an idea of scale:

Big blue 8-point circle is ~2" diameter. The green 10-point targets are slightly smaller than a quarter. The yellow 12-point targets are about half the diameter of a dime.

Ok, sorry, I've not participated in one before. I will it it warms up a bit.

-R
They've all been fun so far. Go back and print out the targets from some of the previous ones if you want.

Winner simply gets to pick the next target. (Except in this case the Dec winner passed and I had one I wanted to try)

Hope it warms up before the end of the month! I'm not shooting in the cold!

I tend to agree with you. The range I shoot at is closed until Tuesday anyway and it is suppose to be warmer then, but rain. I may just go shoot anyway if it is not pouring down like crazy

Being as I was crazy enough to go to the range this morning (when it was 11 degrees) I'll submit first.

Marlin 917V
Mueller 8-25x optic
Hornady 17gr vmax ammo
front rest/rear bag

SCORE = 154

Hopefully I will be able to make it out sometime this week. The range I shoot at was closed for a week because of the weather. They only reopened yesterday.

Ok, so here's my best from last Wed at the Wake Country Range with a score of 150. I was shooting for the 10's and got them all. Also shot a target going for all 12's ... hit 7 but only 2 out of the extra 5 so score was only 132. Winning recipe would have been going for 12's on first 10 and then 10's for the extra 5 but ran out time and anyway, no guts, no glory ... or in this case guts but no glory either :( I was shooting ELEY Tenex but it was a hodge podge of 3 different lots and speeds from past testing and that made a slight but noticeable difference when I was going for the 12's. My rifle actually likes the ELEY Match better than the Tenex and I was just wanting to get rid of my remaining Tenex so Wed was the night. Not that I would have done better with the Match but it's an excuse that I can toss out there so I will - LOL. Was fun and challenging and I wish I had more time. I might try to get back to the range to have another go at it before end of month.

CZ 455 Varmint
Leupold VX-3 4.5-14 x 40 (Not VX-3i)
Sinclair Lightweight Rest in front, Protektor Bunny Ears Bag in back
ELEY Tenex
Score = 150

I was getting ready to go this morning and got word last night that the bridge over the Alligator river is closed for the week. I did not feel like driving the other way. I hate beach traffic. Bad enough I will now have to do it on Friday. Have to work at the range that day. Hopefully the bridge will be reopened by Sunday and I will try to make it out.

@mike59 Must be nice to shoot indoors this time of year!

@ECNC No doubt it is ... but I've been in the Wake County Range before when just barely warmer than outside and sometimes when it felt colder due to fans and the flip side when no cooler than outside in the heat of summer. Never been rained on in there though so that's a definite plus! Was actually kind of nice last week and just wearing a sweatshirt jacket.

Love the rear "bag" :) Much nicer than the raggedy bed sheet in the back of my SUV used to contain dog hairs that I've been known to drag into the range on occasion to use as a front bag - LOL

I see some 12s!!! :D

@nbkky71 Congrats looks like you are the winner! Pick a target for February

I didn't make it out in Jan, but my new rimfire is due here next week...so I plan on shooting the Jan & Feb targets after sighting it in.
