CFF Member's Rides

Just purchased this 2016 Mustang w/ only 11K miles. I had to have another Pony!

Great looking car! I've been looking at some sports cars here recently and there are too many options to pick one. Luckily my wallet says not yet, so the choice is even easier lol.

Wow, that engine bay looks fantastic, great looking car!

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago. It's got the 50th Anniversary package on it, so it gets Heritage Blue Pearl paint and silver wheels. I sent my daughter a picture of it, and she said this must be the "Dad" version of the WRX.

Nice - this one is my daily driver so I'm probably going to stop at stage 1 for now.

Daily driver for me, too. Did the tune on yours fix the terrible throttle response? I'm thinking about changing the map, but not changing any hardware at all.

The fueling is so inconsistent that it makes me feel like a ham-fisted noobie, but it's still fun as crap to drive. I knew I wanted a GTI until I drove them back-to-back.

Just now seeing this - nice ride - tuning did seem to fix the throttle; either that or I've just gotten used to it over the months.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm getting used to the stock throttle, so I'll probably just leave it alone. Not much I would change on this car.

Stage 1 tune is more than worth it. When I had my 15 wrx most etuners would sell you the accessport package that included a free e-tune. It was leaps and bounds over the precanned Cobb tune.

+1 on the tune. I did the tune before any bolt ons and def made a difference. I'm not sure if he's still around but Draco performance near charlotte did my custom tune after a few parts - made my 2010 run like a top. Miss that thing.

Dang it, you guys aren't making it easy. After all the reading I did over the weekend during the storm, I had decided to leave the ECU alone; rather than play Russian Roulette with my powertrain warranty by doing a reflash. I bought the car as a fun daily driver, not a project, but the throttle-opening ramp is awful. I gots some thinking to do.

I've had 2 wrxs and 2 STi's. All at stage 2. Not one issue with any of them. I put over 100k on the first one, second one around 60k, third around 30k and the final one was 40k.

That's the problem when @amnesia posts... You'll think "I should just leave my car alone" or "I don't need to buy any tax stamps"....then he comes in and next thing you know stuff is on order.

Oh no! while I'm at it let me say that the stage 1 tunes from e-tuners and the cobb tune is actually better for your car than the factory stock tune. The stock tune I had on my cars were all junk. Boost spikes galore... The great part about the stage 1 is you can flash it back to stock before taking it back into the dealership. I will say they cannot deny your warranty based on the stage 1. They have to prove the modification caused the problem.

I've seen/read where a ton of folks with reflash before service and never had any issues as long as you're not leaving the AP in the car.

I'll back this as well - had the Subaru techs at Capital and Southern States say as much

Everything I have read implies that the canned and tuner maps are all richer, and have overall less timing advance than the stock map, which is better for longevity for any engine. I can attest to the boost spikes. It's really easy to go above 20 pounds of boost just making a tough merge in Charlotte traffic.

I admit I have read a lot of the horror stories on NASIOC about warranty denials, and they give me pause; but I also realize that a lot of people only join online car and motorcycle communities to complain. There are certainly an order of magnitude more people who never have problems, and you never hear anything out of them. Actually, the big warranty denial thread really doesn't show many instances of problems with the current generation WRX.

I'll try to chat with the techs at our dealer. The experiences with our dealer (Tindol in Gastonia) has been 100% positive so far; no nonsense, no BS, from the sales or service sides. The WRX is our 4th purchase from them.

My babies in the XJ. My little boy helping me wash the mustang the day before his little sister was born. And another of the GT.

The mustang is a GT performance package. Big Brembo brakes, larger radiator, track tuned suspension, 3.73 torsion rear, basically a factory track GT. I've added a few bolt ons but I still need a tune to wake it up a bit. The best modification I've done since these were taken was install Michelin Pilot sport 4 S tires.

I have an over 50 year history with these cars. I won't bore you with them all but a few might interest. My first was a new 1964 1/2 289 K code Hi Po. There were many more and them through the 80s and 90s all the Fox cars. Always V8s, most straight drives. When Ford went retro in 05-06 I was in immediately. Then in '11 I got a new GT500 followed quickly by a new 2011 5.0 Ford Racing Pack car. Then I got a new 2013 Boss 302, the best Mustang I ever owned. In '16 I got the 5.0 with 3:55 rear gears and an automatic. This was a nice car. A good compromise.
I spent a lot of time and money at Holman Moody in the 60s and later. The single thing that jumps out to me after more than a dozen Mustangs, always HiPOs, over a 50 year span is. None of them were so much better after modifying that it ever justified the time or money spent. From 2011 on Ford made it very easy to order cars that were superlative from the day of delivery. Now, they have finally made it possible to order their cars with real horsepower and performance to match with their new 10 speed auto. They are making monsters for the road and cheap to boot. The new Bullitt Mustang has 480 HP BUT a shame it can't be had with the new 10 speed auto. Shame.

Do you still have any? I've always been a Mustang fan, and I have a '94 GT I picked up in '06. It's been a lot of fun was my daily driver until 3 years ago. 220K miles and still going strong. An '18 Bullitt is not in the cards, but a '01 Bullitt would be a fun addition.

But the new bullitt does come with rev matching. No need to heel toe.

Scott, no not at the time. I switched to Corvettes in '14. Have had a '14 and now a '17. I have driven the '17 one time in 15 months. It' was for my wife's 25th Anniversary.

I loved going to VIR when I lived in Danville. Good luck!

@Les car looks good, would love to see more shots of it - interior, engine bay etc

For the guy with the mustangs above - the new body mustang is dead sexy. I keep browsing around a bit looking at white ecoboost models... I miss a turbo car and those cars are just great looking!

How's the racing going this year?
Tell me about the P1800 in the background.
The P1800 belonged to a dear friend that has passed. I hope to soon start working on restoring it

729C6D69-D4BE-4F92-8419-83358CCC194B.jpeg New DD (got it a few months back). I must say this car has been a lot of fun for a sedan. Have RS-R lowering springs in the garage and about to order some Bilsteins for it (hesitant b/c I have to order the rear shocks from Europe b/c the boneheads at Bilstein don’t sell the rears in the US yet).
