Location: Hunting Creek Sporting Preserves - Harmony, NC

Date and Time: Thursday, January 9 @ 12:30pm (weather permitting, and if the weather looks less-than-friendly on the 9th we will try again later)
Cost: $50 (plus your share of a cart, if needed. I'd recommend we get at least one cart for carrying shells and drinks.)

What you need to bring:
  1. A long-barrel shotgun capable of shooting two rounds in rapid succession. If you have any questions about whether or not your gun will be allowed on the course, please call Hunting Creek and ask. Also note that they rent sporting shotguns for a very reasonable fee.
  2. 100+ rounds of #7.5, #8, or #9 shells. Target loads recommended, and it's always a good idea to bring a few extra shells.
  3. Eye and ear protection.

Safety rules:
  1. Eyes and ears must be on the entire time you are on the course (typically a few hours).
  2. Pump and semiauto shotguns must have the action open at all times and be carried barrel-up.
  3. O/Us must be open at all times or carried barrel-up.
  4. Shells must be #7.5, 8, or 9.
  5. When it's your turn to shoot, never load more than two shells.

Before we get too deep can the date be changed?? Tuesday the 7th is Election Day at RCWA and attendance this year is MANDATORY for the well being of the skeet and trap fields. We NEED all members to attend and there should be NOTHING in the way of a record turnout!!

ANY other day, even if I need to call Donald and put off our dinner in Paris that night....

I did not know and that is a big deal. Changing it to Thursday the 9th.

OK, so Bailey Boat has said he's in for whenever/wherever, and while talking to another forum member offline (wait, there's such a thing as offline??) he also said he might go. Is that it?
 
I'm in, but I can't promise I'll be able to hit anything.
 
Awesome, that gives us four so far.

I think we could handle as many as eight, if more are interested.

Recommendations on chokes for sporting clays? Internet's saying improved cylinder.

In the past I have found him to be more full of sht than I am (at times) Since we're going to shoot Harmony (as I understand it) IC and Lt. Mod will get you around. I'll probably shoot Sk and IC which means I should hit more than you since you're over choked and I'll win all of the money $$$$$$.....
You do know we're shooting for a buck a bird, right?? Handicapped for sub gauges..... 20ga= +15 birds, 28ga= +30 birds and .410bore=+99 birds.... Okay??

Any clay is easy to hit, just make sure to shoot where it's going, NOT where it's been.....

You come up with THAT and I'll mail you a check tomorrow!!

Oh man, that is not good. Not good at all. First you "try" sporting clays, and you like it. But it's expensive and takes time and so you say you'll do it just a few times a year.

But after a few months you tell yourself it's ok to do it a little bit more. Not much more, just a little bit. Maybe even during the week once in a while.

Then you wake up a few years later, dizzy, lying in a pile of spent shotgun shells, with twenty grand missing from your bank account, and wonder wtf just happened.

If you are going to spot me 99 I'm in with my 410, this is going to be funny y'all, and you did say a buck a bird right? That should pay for my round and my ammo, yippee!!

Obviously we have a failure to communicate, I don't spot YOU 99 birds, you spot ME 99 birds if I shoot my .410!!
If you're definitely coming that will make 5 so we need one more just to have even numbers which are more lucky than odd numbers..... Call a friend, or a bud from the forum, ALL are welcome I believe..... Right, @Vyntage ??
 
Yep, and the weather is looking great - current prediction is sunny and low 50s. Should be a good afternoon of shooting at clays.

If I end up being the odd man, I will sit this one out, fish are biting so I'll go do that instead, just let me know.

Absolutely effing NOT!!! You'll ride in either of the other carts and I'll ride by myself and tell myself how great I am so it builds my ego and abilities.... Sounds good right?? But I know the truth, I suck and need a handicap just so I don't embarrass myself....

If I remember correctly, christyouthguy is a competitive clays shooter, I have met him before, it might get interesting.

I've been shooting with Robert for half of HIS life so we know each other's abilities pretty well. I'm pondering his offer of 40 but I'll need to see how the birds are set at The Creek before I commit.... You're right, could be interesting....
 
I need to add that I also know thru friends that you bb are and a competitive shooter, so that's why I say it would and could be interesting.
