Alright... here's the target for November: THE BLOB. Shot at 50 yards and printed on 8.5x11 paper.
  • Fire 4 shots per "blob"
  • Each shot in the black counts for 3 points
  • Each shot in the gray counts as 1 point
  • Each shot in the red counts as MINUS 2 points.
  • Each shot completely outside of the BLOB is zero points
  • Total of 60 points possible.

See next post for additional scoring details...

Not sure how we want to handle shots that would break two colors, like the upper left blob. If you hit the edges of the red and black, do you get the higher or lower value? Any thoughts?

ADDENDUM - How about this for scoring... approximate as best you can the center of the bullet hole. If the center of the hole favors one colored circle, then you get that value.

pic removed to prevent any confusion with scoring

(not to scale) The shot on the left would be a 3 and the shot on the right would be a -2

Sound fair? Honor system for close shots.

Here are additional details as to what @nbkky71 and I collaborated on for scoring:

1. Any hole that's only in white is a 0
2. Any hole that breaks into the grey, regardless of how much, is a +1, assuming it hits no other color
3. Any hole that breaks into the black is a +3, assuming it doesn't hit red
4. Any hole that touches red is a -2, regardless of what else it touches, as the point is to not hit red (this is a change from my previous suggestion)

Examples:

No trying to figure out where the center is or any real judgment calls to make, and one point value per bullet.

Deleted so as to not cause confusion with scoring.

Scoring updated/clarified above. I plan to shoot Monday morning...this target plus the Aug/Sep/Oct ones I never got to try.

I gave it a try today. This game is a lot of fun. Only scored a 22, but the shoots were grouped pretty good. I just need to keep practicing.
I tried to score yours to make sure I was going to read them right. 2-5 all make sense, but I'm not sure I'm seeing the holes on the first one correctly.

There's definitely one black and one red, which would be a +1 total. To get to +3, that means the other two have to be just grey. Is that what you're seeing. I couldn't tell if one of them hit the black, or if the other missed the grey completely?

20171106_054335.jpg Here is a close up of the fisrt group. I counted 1 for touching gray. It may just be torn. It is only one point, i will take a 21 and try again! It is all in fun!20171106_054335.jpg

Go with what you think it is. I was thinking one was closer to black, and one may have missed completely. Really hard to tell.

I'm scoring mine now. Mike L was with me and had some kind of card that measured holes so I could be a little more accurate with my scoring. It got a little crazy on a couple of them due to multiple holes leaving a ragged gap.

Let me first say I really enjoyed this target. Challenging, but not impossible like some of the others seemed to be with a stock trigger and max 7X scope. Big thanks to @ncav8tor for hosting me at PHA today!!

Finally got out to shoot the November target today, and took a couple of the Aug/Sep/Oct targets out as well. Ended up shooting two of each with the rifle at 50yd, and one with a pistol at 10'.

IMG_0496.JPG

RAR 22LR with Sparrow, CCI SV and 2-7X scope. And with a decent breeze that moved my entire target around on occasion.

IMG_0498.JPG

40 on the first try, 52 on the second. Pretty proud of the second target...every shot scored a positive number. No reds, no zeros.

IMG_0510.JPG

Also decided to get stupid and try my GSG 1911-22 with a Warlock...from 10'. Figured that's the max I'd even attempt anything this small. Opted for one shot at each blob...and managed to shoot a perfect 0!! :eek:

If I had known you were the ones at the tactical bays today I’d of come and said hey. I was on the 100/200 yard range shooting my 308 with the suppressor.

You see the pics of black guns being shot? That's sign enough it isn't at CRPC! If it ain't wood, it ain't gud!
lol, they got a thing about that do they? I have never been, but have a couple friends that said I should join. Unfortunately they are the closest outdoor range to me. PHA looks to be a bit of a hike from here. :(

Well dang, next time I want to go I now have one more person I can ask to host me. :D

I shot a couple today. Changed out ammo to some Geco stuff that my boss gave me. It seemed to do pretty well getting sighted in. Then I had problems shooting into the sun, again. I'm going to set my backstop up a different way next time. Rifle is a CZ455 American, Leupold scope, Geco ammo, Rev 9 suppressor. Check out the sweet sweet mods I did to help with that sun. :cool: Pure C U S T O M!

I shot the 36 first and then the 28. Going to try again tomorrow if I can.

@Exile_D it's a Competition 45x. I can see movement when my heart beats. lol.

I shot again today. First setup was in the front yard. Prone, bipod, rear bag, on the ground. The crest of the hill had me shooting through blades of grass. I couldn't see the dots very well. Results of this on are the top target.

I drove my truck over and set up in the back of it. MUCH better! I could see again. Same setup as before except prone in bed of truck. It is the bottom target.

But wait!!!! I haven't shot it yet.....
His score is 60 out of a max of 60. Tie goes to the first to post it.

Plus...we figured 20 rounds was too much for you to try. :p

I took a crack at this target today, but when I got home it looks like I fired 5 shots on some of the blobs. So I'll hold off on my official submission until I can re-shoot.

On a whim, I did attempt this target using iron sights. I WILL NOT count this one for score, since I used an unsanctioned method to be able to see the target. I took a 6" shoot-n-see target and cut the center out of it and overlaid it on each blob's black aiming dot. That gave me a big enough aiming black to be able to see from 50 yds. I fired 4 rounds and then moved my aiming aid to each blob.

Q4TRB2m.jpg

Remington 40X
Wolf MT ammo
Redfield International front and rear iron sights.
Blob1 = 8
Blob2 = 10
Blob3 = 10
Blob4 = 12
Blob5 = 10
TOTAL = 50

November was a fun one. I had a target picked out just in case, but alas my 52 didn't hold up. :(

New one should be good. Hoping I get out to shoot it at least once!
