Lets make it really challenging for October. Notice the negative point values on the targets. PDF file attached.

NOTE: after discussion later on down the thread, scoring will include both positive and negative scores if your mark covers both...as an example, you could get a +10 and a -7 (net +3) with a single shot

Have you printed one of these out. I had problems printing it and do not know if it is my printer or the file. I have had problems with the printer the last few days, so just not sure. But it did not print right for me

Created a new thread for this one.

To be clear...one shot at each "pair" of targets? And one shot at the bullseye target to start? (Or does the bullseye target not count in the scoring?)

No, I haven't printed this out yet, but will give it a try.
ADDENDUM - Mine printed OK at home. It sucks up some black ink though.

I agree: one shot at the bullseye and one shot per pair of targets. Note that the foremost target in each pair has a NEGATIVE point value, forcing you to shoot at the silhouette in the rear to accumulate points.

Total of 10 rounds fired for a max score of 100 points. However, it is possible to score in the negatives if you're not careful.

How about the same general rules as previous contests regarding rifles, rests, etc. Breaking the scoring ring counts for the next higher (or lower) point value.

Oh man... this one is going to be fun!

Well I just ordered a new printer. My printer head is messed up and a new head cost more then what I paid for the printer. New printer will be here Tuesday. So all is good.

I like the idea that you can get a negative score! Negative wins right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will have to try with the open sites if negative wins!! I have done pretty bad with those. Well maybe I did pretty bad with a scope too!

Hey,,,wait a min,,,you guys have a meet-up and shoot?

Tell me more please....
There is no meet up. Shoot at your own range and post pics here of your targets and set up.

Do you have a link for it?? I can't get it to print either...

The PDF is attached as a file at the top of this thread, but I'm not sure it's not printing for some folks. It worked fine for me...

The target can be downloaded here: http://accurateshooter.net/Blog/czechtargets.zip
The ZIP file has multiple targets inside it, but the one we're using is named "1_rukojmi_2009.pdf"

Cool!!! New printer came before. I printed off the target and it printed fine. Looks like this will be another fun one!

Remember you need to print LANDSCAPE not portrait

OK... I'll be the guinea pig for this month. I'm tentatively calling this an an 87 but I need a judgement call on one target.

Bottom row, 2nd from the right. The center of the of the shot is in the +10 head, with a sliver nicking the -7 head. If we're saying breaking the line gives you the next higher value, does it give you the lower score in this case? I'll concede to the forum decision...

EDIT - Amending my score to a 70, since I did nick the -7 target.
EDIT, PART DEUX - Looks like my score is now an 80 using the +/- rule now.

I say a 10. The targets that we have shot so far always went to the higher number. Nice shooting by the way. I am going to try it Tuesday morning if it is not raining to hard

See, I'd say the opposite. You're aiming for the back target, and if you hit the front you've hit the good guy...even if you also killed the bad guy.

I'm still hoping to get out and shoot the Aug, Sep and Oct targets.

Okay he get a 10 for taking out the BG but losses 7 for wounding the hostage ... net+3?

I'd count it a -7 if it was mine.

I did not even think about the "Net 3" That is probably the way it should be if we are adding numbers. Which seems what we are doing.

That'll work. I'll update the OP just in case.

Naw... I'll take the -7 since I did nick the wrong target. No biggee... just incentive to try again!
Too late!! :D

I updated the OP with the note. We'll just add up all scores, positive and negative.

I was thinking about giving this a shot (haha - just came out) and wondering about the target size - from the properties it looks like it's intended for 11 x 17 (ish) so is that what we print out or should I be reducing to 8 x 11?

Also, from previous month I saw "Rimfire at 50 yds. No mechanical rests. Bench or prone. Bipods or sandbags". Is that the running theme and are there any restrictions on scopes?

TIA - Mike

I printed mine out on 8.5x11. Not sure if it scaled different than intended or not, but it printed just fine. (May just being harder than it should be)

If these are supposed to be on 11x17 then I'm even more impressed with my performance on last month's target as I also printed on 8x11.

Shot this Tuesday. Weather was crappy. Tried out some Eley Force for the first time and definitely helped with the wind problem. I may have to start using a rear bag because of my shakiness. This old age sucks sometimes. Will try again next week if I can get out there.

Not sure on the scoring. Are we taking the net number or what? i.e. -7 + 10 = 3

I believe that's what we agreed to. Add up all the regions you hit, which could include a + and - on the same pair of silhouettes.

I tried today. Best I got was 46. First time shooting mt new rifle. Savage Mark II, .22 heavy barrel. 3-9×40 scope. Bipod on front, sandbag in rear. Eley club ammo.20171014_113733.jpg 20171014_113733.jpg 20171014_130719.jpg

I wish I had printed out a couple of these when my kid and I had an impromptu session at a friends house. If I had one and used my friend’s little rimfire I’d had done way better than any of mine ... a freakin’ Savage bolt gun in .17hmr! That thing at 50 yards was making 1 jagged hole 5 shot groups. We were shooting at dots on paper instead of targets that thing is so precise. Funny thing though my friend said out to 75-100 yards it is a laser but after that it’s 17gr bullet can be less stable with a breeze ... but at 50 yards I’d almost bet I could actually drive a tack.

Side note, we did pop a couple tree rats and if you hunt squirrel not just shoot for nuisance abatement you better aim for the head cause anything else leaves nothing to dress for cooking ... pink mist!!!

I believe everybody has been printing them out on 8 1/2 x 11.

Well went and shot a couple of targets this morning. Only scored a 70 on one and something south of that on the other. Not very good. But oh well. Had fun.

Whoever is in the lead better have a new target ready!!

I haven't gotten out to shoot the last three, but have plans to shoot next Monday. I'm taking the Aug/Sep/Oct targets with me, just to see how I do...but would like to have the current (Nov) one as well. :D
