Two years ago, my wife bought me a Char Broil oil less turkey fryer and I highly suggest it..Makes an awesome turkey without all the dangers of deep frying. It cooks pretty quick at 10 -15 min per pound and don't be shy with your seasonings.

I was looking at the Char Broil today, it seems superior to an oil based fryer.

I cant fault it,, it does a good job.. Its more like an outdoor oven meaning it will free up your house stove for other things but that's about it..It doesn't impart any flavorings like a smoker or grill fueled by wood will. It is better then house oven cooking since its in a basket as compared to sitting on a pan. The skin will be crispy all over and will cook evenly. Since it runs at about 500 degrees it will got done sooner then an oven so that's a plus. Some people will use it for cooking other things like chickens and ribs, but to me they are better on a grill or smoker. The cost is usually about $100 and I wouldn't have bought one myself since Im pretty cheap, but mine was gift from the Wife who thought it was a good idea . Hope this helps in the decision making process.

Used one for the first time this year. Turned out great although it took almost 4 hours for my slightly frozen 14lb turkey to hit 165deg internal temp at all probbed locations. Also think a lot of heat was being scavenged by the 30 deg 15 mph wind we were experiencing. Moved it into my shop and it seemed to heat up much faster.

I did a 15 lb bird Thursday. I do 10 minutes per pound and it is between 165-170.

Yeah I sure had to do a lot with the extended cook time.. Since it does not have a top, the wind and cold temps were just sucking the heat away.. I don't think Im going to use mine again.. No one ate the turkey, but chowed down all the great sides the Wife made.. Told the wife :" No more turkey from now on " The dogs are gonna eat well tho..
