Some of you older members may remember Charlie Glotzbach. He was a NASCAR and ARCA driver and competed mostly in the 1960's and 1970's. He was 82.

My buddy, Jesse, was good friends with Charlie and I've heard a lot of funny stories about him. Jesse's brother Jerry had just upgraded to a new Late Model dirt car and they had just finished building it. Jesse was taking some pictures of the car, wet the pavement down and was on a ladder trying to get some different angles. Charlie rides up on his bike and asks why in the hell are you up on that ladder? Hahaha

Very few could get the speed out of a race car that Glotzbach could but that doesn’t win races. He had more than his share of bad luck but most of it was brought about by over driving the car; Charlotte 1971 was a fine example. May he RIP.

He held the record lap time at Bristol??? For ages......
Fastest race ran. Still stands today. It was a caution free race.

I'm thinking it was something like he won Bristol the only time they ran the race that there were no cautions, I'm a little fuzzy on this.

This is hitting close to home.

I never heard the deceased's name before, but my father in law built late model dirt track cars and will be 82 in July.
