Anyone have any recommendations? I of course have google but always interested is some hot tips.

I haven't been to a gun shop in YEARS, so grain of salt

But first, what are you looking for? Cheap, BAD, Ugly?

My favorite one NEAR Charlotte when I lived in the area was Sportman in Rock Hill.

Carolina Sporting Arms has a nice indoor range. That’s about the nicest thing I can say about them.

Ammo prices similar to Hyatt’s. Range got closed even to members sometimes with little to short notice for various “events”.

The only gun store I ever went to in Charlotte was Colias Lawing, which tells you how long it's been since I lived near Charlotte. It was a top notch store for quality firearms and accessories, back in the day.

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Refresh my memory, where was it located?

Maybe I’m looking for different type things than y’all are, but they have had specific firearms I’ve been after for pretty good prices. I can’t speak on ammo or modern latest and greatest because I’m not after that.

Hyatt's has a reputation of having the highest prices in town, been that way since Larry took over the business from his father.

They do have a huge selection and sell boat loads of guns, but their prices are high

Just the way it is

You would be so disappointed today. Nice enough people, but it’s now one of those places that could display a thousand guns, but they only have 28. Their indoor range I believe is all that floats that place now.

Nichols Store in Rock Hill SC (right off I 77 South below CLT) has inventory, not the cheapest, but they will deal sometimes. Pretty decent place to visit if you’ve never been there, I guess. And, you don’t need a gun in the parking lot to get from your vehicle to the store.

When I first visited, Collias Lawing was on Central across the street from the Salvation Army. They later moved to a shop downtown near the library. Then they moved into an old A&P grocery store off South Tryon. Somewhere in there, they became CSA and later moved further out of town. Collias Lawing started losing their "mojo" about the time they moved into the old grocery store. Hyatt's? Won't ever do any business with them if I can help it.

I've never been there but my wife's cousin said it was the best gun store he'd ever been to

You need to plan a day trip, give yourself a couple hours to look thru the inventory.
Go next door to the gas station and get some fried chicken.
Then go back to Mid South and make a second tour.

I like Point Blank Range in Matthews. Good group of guys, range is well maintained, good firearm selection, not a big source of ammo.

I once went by and stopped at the "Firepower" shop, liked it there, nothing special, but it was a small decent shop with a helpful vendor. I don't think that you will be able to find any exclusive stuff, in fact it's still worth visiting at least.

I like, or liked Firepower. I haven't been there in many years.

I bought a lot of guns from them, all mil-surps

Aisle pawn shop in Mooresville has some random old ones. I've heard you can haggle, but never bought anything there.

I don't visit gun store in Charlotte but if I had to I'd visit Blackstone. If only because I can easily get out of there and out of Charlotte. Last gun I bought from Blackstone was on GunBroker and even though it's a 30 minute drive from my house I had it transferred to a shop in Gastonia to avoid driving into Charlotte.

Eagle Guns in Concord is one of the better gun shops I’ve visited. Usually decent inventory and fair(er) prices.

I prefer Ideal Sportsman in Concord.I have purchased almost all my firearms there. The store is better laid out and the employees are usually very helpful and respectful. For the most part the prices are slightly better than EAGLES in Concord.Downside, they don't have a range to try out guns.

Beltway Gun and Pawn has a surprisingly large inventory, including Garands, M1 carbines, and so on. Lots of used revolvers and usually some C&R.

I actually thought I commented on this post about Beltway already but it looks like I didn't. I haven't been over there recently but have bought a bunch over the years. Always been a good shop especially going back to the years Don @lowspeed worked there.
