I’ve been playing with my 455 for a bit and I am thinking about getting a chassis or possibly a different stock. I like the looks of the krg bravo but from what I’ve seen the one they make for the 455 doesn’t have the mlok rails up front like all the other bravo’s made for other guns. If it had the mlok sections I’d have already ordered it. I also like the looks of the mpa but man that's a chunk of change to drop.

Right now I have a Boyd’s tacticool stock and it’s alright but I’ve had two different places where it’s cracked. I’ve fixed one but figured I’d just leave the other until I start to see problems with accuracy. The bottom metal is pretty warped as well.

I ordered a larger bolt knob from anarchy outdoors and like it but I had to sit my scope up a little higher than I wanted. I can still shoot it but it’s definitely not comfortable. I was looking at getting a cheek riser from Matthews fabrication but at $100 I’d almost rather go ahead and order the chassis instead. Another reason in my mind to order the chassis was to save the money from getting new bottom metal to replace mine that’s warped.

With all that said, is anyone here using a chassis for their 22 and if so how do you like it? Are there any pros/cons that would make you choose a stock made by mcmillen or manners over a chassis?

Here’s what I have now.

I use a Bell & Carlson Anschutz stock on one of my 10-22 rifles. It has the aluminum chassis block bedded in. Check out B&C...

I've got this same chassis on a 452 American. Modular Driven Technologies. MDT LSS chassis. Optics Planet has some on clearance and I picked it up for something like $200.

They are fairly lightweight. You can change grip angle to your liking by swapping grips. I needed a riser for it to work with me so a standard AR stock didn't work for me. The forend is shorter than a normal stock too. Overall, pretty handy but really mechanical. I don't use it much. I prefer my 455 setup.

This is my 455 in a McMillan. I really like this stock. The HTG stocks really fit me well and it doesn't feel like a soulless chunk of metal. Really comfortable and I can shoot well with it.

My son has an identical stock but with different colors. He has sort of a grey/white camo pattern.

If I got another rifle to set up, I think I'd try to track down a Manners. I recently built two full sized rifles with Manners stocks and they are awesome. I think it would be a winner on a little CZ too.

I remember when you posted pics of those 2 stocks and mentioned one was for your son. They turned out sweet and I’m glad you like them. I’d like to try one with the adjustable cheek riser. Do you know if they sell them anywhere or do you have to order them and wait for them to be built?

Not many people stock McMillans because all of the options you can do. When I ordered those it took about 6 weeks. I see one occasionally on Sniper’s Hide and over on Ar15.com in the for sale sections. The Manners stocks seem to pop up more. Price would be similar. $4-500. The Manners have that higher comb so you may not need a riser.

I have tried the KRG, Tacticool, Manners, Wood, and MPA in the 452/455. I loved the MPA enough to get it in the full size. I didn’t care for the Bravo too much, but at least it is inexpensive and adjustable. I would give second place to the Manners, but I also sent it to Manners to add a cheek piece to make it better.

I picked up an MDT lss22 Gen 1 for cheap. Should have it today. Will let ya know how it looks haha

@Pbj ak Here is the MDT LSS (Gen 1). Figured I post it here since it was more related to this thread. Saw the crack in the stock last night when I was putting the action in the new chassis. I really like how looks and feels so far. Range report to come.

That’s pretty sweet man. I still need to pick up a check riser, get a chassis or something. I’ve been shooting mine while holding my mouth open real big so I can get a cheek weld lol.

Was waiting to see something used go up for sale but in the mean time I have also bought a couple things I needed for the boogaloo.

@Pbj ak oh man what chassis you get? Dude like I was just looking at my Boyd's stock 15 min ago thinking I need to put it up for sale and then I just saw your post lol

It’s a krg. Just shot a couple mags and took some pics after listing the Boyd’s lol. 17829AAB-BC9D-4F36-81A9-66C78BFE7438.jpeg

@Paradigm .45

there are a couple things I don’t really care for but I’m going to do a little modification work on it here soon.

I wish the barrel channel was a solid smooth surface. I’m not sure if there’s a benefit to it like it is but I’m going to try to get some kind of filler to put in it and sand it down smooth. I just don’t have any experience working with stuff like that.

Also with the new bolt handle (anarchy outdoors handle and area 419 knob) I installed, there’s an exposed spring I don’t really care for. It didn’t do it with the Boyd’s stock and it’s not exposed when I put the factory bolt handle back in. I’m sure it wouldn’t be an issue but I just don’t really care for it personally. I might end up just using the factory bolt handle to solve the issue.

Thats interesting they left the barrel channel looking like that. Almost looks unfinished, it would bother me too lol. Looks great otherwise. Man we need to get together and do some plinking!

Thanks man.

If you ever get up this way I’ve got some steel set up. I was hitting 3 and 4 inch steel circles at 200 earlier (probably not that impressive to most). Maybe wait till it cools down a bit but you’re welcome to come shoot whenever we can line up our schedules.
