Cheaper Than Dirt Being Sued

On my way back from Fayetteville, I stopped off at the little dinky Gun Shop in Wagram. He had a crowd. I'm used to seeing Phillip busy but the last few weeks, he has really been jumping as you can imagine. I will give him credit. His ammo prices are cheaper than anyone else I've seen and he still has inventory. He has had to raise his prices a little because his suppliers have raised his cost, but he is only going up what they go up to him. He has started limiting purchases to 1 box of 9mm at a time and I think 2 boxes of .223/556. Very smart in my opinion. Not interested in making a big lick at one time, he wants continued business and is trying to make sure all of his customers gets some ammo. Does business the old fashion way. Treat everybody the same!

Which is a problem, because that is a breach of contract. A legal case can be made for their being in the wrong, as a result.
They can charge what they want. It's their property. I don't like it, but here we are. I can go elsewhere, or buy their product. BUT, I, and 2 other people I know, had ammo and mag orders cancelled 2 days after Sandy Hoax and told the items were out of stock. Then, the next day, the ammo and mags were for sale again at much higher prices. That right there was dirty and showed me their true colors. I choose not to buy from them ever again. So, I can see the lawsuit if that's the same case that happened in 2012.

Right. It's not about the prices, it's about the failure to deliver on an agreed upon transaction, in the name of being able to sell the same item at the higher price.

I saw somebody on here selling ammo for 1K. Hell ask what you want. PSA not price gouging?? When does it turn into price gouging? I mean 50% is ok but 100% is too much...Hep me here????
PSA quoted an example of their cost vs sale price. They had a 20% markup before COVID and, even though their cost nearly doubled, their markup actually went down a couple percent.

Sorry, don't care much what CTD rapes people for on ammo prices when they could get a reloading setup and avoid all the hoopla. So all I've done is just spend some quality time with the Dillon and the RCBS.

I don’t feel for those who did not prepare unless it’s a younger person just now being able to make a purchase. But on the other hand I see it like having a tornado or flood and needing a generator when power is down for weeks and months. If a generator is $700.00 and a store marks it up to $2100.00 in a limited supply does that raise eye brows?

I tell you what I hate about that dog shyte company. They list guns that are not available which come up on search engines as the lowest cost stores. You go to the site and it gives the low price but none available yet you have come to the site which makes you aware of the store and drives future shopping. They are scam artist. Legal yes, ethical no.

It's not a breach of contract if the contract--that fine print you click through without reading--says they can do it. And I bet it does.

If we didn't have laws prohibiting price gouging, we would have toilet paper on the shelves for those who need it.

Or if we had stores that saw what was going on and what was going to happen. Those limits on items are kind of moot once you are out. Two ways to control the market, price and rationing. With rationing being the only real option for retail. They were way to slow to respond to some of this.

Jacking prices on essentials during a crisis, to me is being an a-hole.

Ammo and guns are not essential. People in our bst have been selling ammo at crazy prices. People have been paying it.

Let the party begin.

Yup.

I think at the very least, “price gouging” is the act of directly manipulating the market for purpose of monetary gain. Think TN guy buying all hand sanitizer in the area (creating the shortage).

there’s already a term for this (I can’t recall it at moment) for “big business” like oil and pharma. I think it’s called “price fixing” or something.

anyway, I think even this definition is (and should be) difficult to charge a legitimate small/mid sized business with as they are directly in the supply-demand chain. It would (and should) however, protect consumers against other predatorial consumers.

If my memory banks are correct, I've never been a customer. I Try to buy locally when at all possible.
Since I started reloading years ago, I rarely buy loaded ammo. I like to buy reloading supplies locally, but stores around me that stock them are dwindling. Gun shows such as the Dixie in Raleigh are where I get most of my supplies.

9mm is the only caliber I buy, and with the recent run on ammo, I’m loading that too. Since my wife took up shooting I’ll likely have to buy a progressive press. My single stage is kinda slow....

You should have all you need long before a crisis pops it’s ugly head. :p
I do. I think the only thing I've bought was a couple of things from other forum members and none of it was panic related. More related to want than need.

It's still blasphemy. :p

And not to mention, you'll need more guns too, since she seems to like all yours and you'll need your very own! LOL.

PS: Y'all come shooting in the woods in Wagram with me when you need to get out of the big city!

We live in the country too, so we’ve got places to shoot. I’ll get up with you soon, and we’ll fling some lead!

There is a price gouging law on the books in this state. Only way CTD will really get sued is if price gouging is illegal in the state where they are located. In this state you have to file a written complaint with the AG's office and they decide if they want to prosecute under the price gouging statute.

We have countless government agencies gouging us every day and millions of parasites on the govt gravy train. Now government is writing checks out of thin air for trillions more to throw at their pet projects and reelection campaigns....and the "gun community" gets most outraged over a gun retailer (who probably struggles to stay in business most days) that knows the real market value of ammo during a crisis. Heck, the cable company is able to gouge me for 130 per month for tv and internet because they have a government sanctioned monopoly...where is the outrage?

Hopefully all of the cheaper than dirt owners and employees will go on welfare so then they can gouge us below the radar for the rest of their lives like everybody else does.

(yes, I was self indulgent when making the point but quarantine is getting kinda boring).

That's the exact reason I will never go to Mace Sports in Mebane again. Two days after Sandy HoaxBill Mace raised 223 ammo from $299 a thousand to $999.00. If that was not price gouging nothing is. F him
