Chiggers suck

Years ago we used to pick wild blackberries this time of year and the best way we knew of to keep the chiggers off was to choke down a tablespoon of sulfur powder. Once you sweated the bugs left you be from the smell. By the time we got to the berry patch we were wet with sweat, stinking real good and no bug bites to be had.

We used to eat matchheads before going to the field at FT Bragg.

I had them once in college after cutting some trees. I thought it was poison ivy at first then went to school nurse. I was miserable for about a week.

I think you're confusing your crab infestation with chiggers. :D

I'll hold the lighter if you take the ice pick?

This may sound weird, but it does work and men it will work for you.....wear pantyhose, chiggers (or ticks) cannot penetrate the material.

Plus, I'll look even sexier in the field.

I soak everything but my pillow and my underwear, boots, ruck, hammock, everything.
You don’t have to soak your underwear, nothing alive is going near that

add another thumbs up for Chigarid.

not Chiggerex, etc.

it's sort of a Vicks and fingernail polish combo.
i guess you could "roll your own", but it's already cheap enough and it works on bites.

lately, all i do is just tuck everything in.
long pants in socks.
shirt in pants.
all that.
way back in the day, after i noticed that they "bit" near the elastic-areas of my clothes, i added some rubber bands around my ankles and wrists. then i checked myself throughout the day. that worked well enough to continue doing it during that summer surveying job.
