Cigar of the day

/what prices are you paying for you better smokes? Are you buying them 10, 20 or 25 boxes. To buy at the local shop I am being hit up for 12 to 18 dollars a stick.

I have the benefit of living 25 minutes from JR's, and they sell their stuff for MSRP or below. Often they have deals on single sticks, like buy 5, get one free, or 5 packs for reasonable prices. I look for deals online at places like Cigars International, Holts, or JR's. I'm a bargain shopper.

I’m less than 10, if you’re referring to the smoke shop off exit 36 from 77.

They really do have great prices. I’m glad they opened this place up after closing the JR store in Statesville.

*** Can someone clarify for me that the infamous “cigar tax” actually was added several years ago?

I stopped smoking them for a few years and just got back into it in the last row or three years. “Bargain” brands are at least 3 or 4 dollars more per stick than I remember those years back.

Enjoyed a Nat Sherman Host Robusto yesterday and today at the range. Tried to pull a pic of the interwebs but no dice. Great light, enjoyable little smoke that doesnt make me dizzy or jittery.

That was the SCHIP tax, championed I believe by then Senator Hillary Clinton. SCHIP = State Children's Health Insurance Program (now just CHIP) was a cleverly designed tax that took its funding from tobacco sales to "help the children."

I live close to the JR's in Selma, just off of I-95.

That cigar is on my must try list, just haven’t gotten around to picking one up yet.

Yeah I was waiting to buy one at a later date, but when I was at Total Wine yesterday to get beverages for a beach trip they had that cigar for sale at a similar price point for what a single goes for online. Glad I picked it up

The buy five get one free doesn’t count if any are Padron or another brand that is part of Padron that I can’t remember. Smoking a Rocky Patel Autumn Reserve 2008 with some whiskey right now. It’s not bad, but I prefer a bit more flavor. Anyone else using the Cigar Scanner app to keep track of the ones they like or is that just me?

I probably should use one of the apps, instead I keep a list in my Notes app of ones I liked, ones that were ok, and ones that I hated.

I’ve never had a bad Rocky Patel, but other than the Vintage 99 Connecticut they have all left me wanting more.

I had a Drew Estate MUWAT and a Caldwel Blind Man’s Bluff earlier today on the boat but forgot to take pics.

Where is everyone buying their cigars on line? i get a couple of catalogs but not sure where to buy from. Here in Savannah the prices are about double. And really do not want to buy more that 15 to 20 per order. That will last a month or so.

Thompsons online auction has good deals. I get mine from there.

If I’m buying online I go to cigarbid and sort by ending soon. All of the auctions end in the late evening up until midnight, so look after work and see what’s closing that day, if you look for a few days in a row you’ll find some great deals. They have cheap low quality samplers and higher end quality smokes as well.

JR's has pretty good online prices. https://www.jrcigars.com/

Having met the guy may make me a bit biased. He's a pretty cool guy. I mainly have an overstock of Rocky Patel because my wife bought me a large mixed pack of them. You won't hear me complain about that. Lol.

I buy from Thompson or Famous-Smoke. Between the two of them one always has a good sale. I try to keep the humidor topped up they seem happier that way.

I don’t smoke flavored or infused cigars very often but the kuba kuba is my go to when I do.

Awesome. I picked it up because I had seen the “Kuba Kuba” name online such as Reddit but never actually researched the cigar or the Acid line in general. Didn’t realize it was infused until I got home but was a very excellent smoke. Made sitting on the porch watching the rain enjoyable.

I'm with ya on the flavored/infused. Acid does it well though. The Blondie and Cold Fusion are pretty good too. Especially the latter. Very light flavoring.

Acid does do it very well, it’s the only line I’ve had that the flavors seem to compliment the natural tobacco flavors rather than try to overpower them. The blondie is great, I haven’t tried the cold fusion yet, I might give it a shot next time the mood strikes.

Finally tried one last night, and it lived up to the hype. I am blown away by how great it was, definitely going to be in my permanent rotation now.

It is a very good stick. I gave my father in law a My Father Flor de las Antillas and told him about that one. So gives me an excuse to buy more of them now that he wants one.

I like the way you think!

I picked it up at J.R.’s last weekend at a great price. I grabbed 2 thinking I’d have another for later if I liked it or only 1 to get rid of if I didn’t like it....now I’m wishing I’d have grabbed a few more while I was there.

If you don’t mind me asking how much was it at J.R.’s?

Sorry for the late reply, it was $10.75

No worries. Thanks for letting me know. I think I paid close to $12 at Total Wine last time and today when I went to get one for my father in law. Will be a cigar I buy a box of though.
