It was brought up in another thread that France is having riots in the streets, over gas taxes?
Who are these people, left or right? And why does it feel like it's being driven by outsiders with a separate agenda. It's the rethoric I'm noticing.

I would like to know the real reasons for the riots. Of course the media will never allow that to become common knowledge here.

Yeah it makes me wonder if it has anything to do with what Clinton and Kerry eluded to last week.

The snipets I've seen on the various news outlets online show clips ranging from gas prices ($7.00 per gallon), the VAT tax, pensions not being solvent and the overall cost of living getting out of hand. Now I'm sure the political opposition and the pantifa, anut tiffa what ever the hell you call them, are out having fun as well.

The Paris prosecutor Remy Heitz said 378 people were in custody, including 33 under the age of 18. He said many of those arrested in battles with police were men aged between 30 and 40, often from regions far from Paris, who had “come to fight police while claiming to be part of the gilets jaunes movement”.

I've heard that it's the people in the rural part of France that are pissed off because the gas tax, they actually drive. So the 30-40 year old men from outside of Paris actually makes sense.

"I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken by leaders like (Germany's) Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part and must send a very clear message — 'we are not going to be able to continue (to) provide refuge and support' — because if we don't deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic."

It basically comes down to the citizenry finally realizing that the ruling class is incompetent and is not making life better. Actually they have been making life worse in the western world for about 50 years. Eventually something's got to give. At some point it doesn't matter if it is incompetence or corruption. People there appear close to having had enough. Hope they keep on pushing.

Does "Civil Unrest in France" sort of equate to "Postal Strike in Canada"?

Macron is on the cutting edge of globalization, mass immigration, and the creation of a consolidated Europe. The resistance to his agenda comes from a variety of sources and for a myriad of reasons, but they are decidedly against the leftist establishment.

I believe the reason for the high fuel tax is to pay for the mass immigration into Europe. Just pay for it has consequences as Macon is finding out.

I hope honestly that it's bad enough so the people in these countries can get so mad that they purge the current leaders out of power and into hiding. Socialism is strong in Europe right now is the biggest problem. The Socialist EU leaders have given these countries away to the wolves .

Partly. The French economy has been teetering for a while, and they are all-in on cradle-to-grave social programs.

For the most part the protesters (at least the legit ones with the gripes; can't speak to the 'paid protesters') are right/nationalists. I have to say they are a respectful lot, what with wearing high-viz traffic vests for safety and all....

Not at all. She is just warning the neo-marxists/globalists that they are pushing too hard on the population replacement/soft extermination of Europeans of Christian origin, and thereby waking too many people up to the threat. She is saying, proceed slowly so as to not awaken the sheep before their slaughter.

Apparently the tax on diesel fuel (primary fuel used in Europe) has gone up around .30 US cents per gallon as a result of the new taxes, and it is scheduled to continually rise in the coming years.

I think they are finally starting to reach the boiling point. Every kick off needs leaders. I am happy to see the 40+ guys in the mix. I’m not in that age range, but maybe they are waking up to the fact that they may be wanting to try and save the country for the next generation. After all, they are the ones that started everyone down this path. Don’t knock the French too bad. They fought valiantly in both world wars. Their leadership failed them in the second. They once kicked butt all across Europe. Nationalism is on the rise, and is usually the precursor to some serious conflicts.

They are getting what their leaders wanted. They elected them and welcomed illegal immigration just like we have. Next up, America.

I don't like this, but I agree with it.

Another 10-12yrs or so I think it's pretty much game over for our economy unless there is a substantial and drastic change. - Even if the change is good long-term, it's going to be very bad short term.

...but more likely than not, we will end up like Western Europe. Some sort of Venezuelan-esque shenanigans, pensions and IRA/401k will be plundered to feed and house the hoards, taxes will price people out of working, production and growth will be limited to a handful of technocratic companies aligned with GovCo. The left will continue to grow more extreme and violent.

We will all be strangers in our own Land before long. We've already been defined as the enemy for a long time, and the country is shackled by insurmountable debt. Every conservative stronghold is turning blue...there is no escaping it.

I've gotten in a few conversations about retirement and wealth management lately. As the years go by, that just seems more and more like a pipedream. - At this point in my life, I'm just happy I can stay out of debt, put food on the table and a roof over our heads. I save some, I give some...there ain't much left over. That's fine, because I don't see it ending well anyways. I'm preparing every way I can. Eggs aren't all in one basket.

Apparently this is the explanation for the yellow vest. I was wondering the same thing.

The Yellow Vest is a requirement under French law for all drivers.

Each vehicle is to have a safety vest for the driver and is to be used in case of emergency: vehicle breakdown, accident and so on.

Since the gas tax targeted French drivers, these same drivers wore the vests as a visible sign of rebellion against Macron and the French Government and their requirements.

If I were a Frenchman, I would be mad about the gas tax, but I would be even madder at being treated like an imbecile by Macron's offer to delay the tax for six months.

The tax was also an increase in electricity rates. Then Macron said it was nexessary to fight global warming. If he would have shut his mouth maybe he could have pulled this off. But the minute he says it is for some weird pagan cult / wealth redistribution / skimming scam the average Fenchman knew he was getting violated without lube.

Were Macron's actions a precursor to what happened in Venezuela. I mean, is this were things were going before the people revolted?

I’m seeing a lot of chatter about how the mainstream media is airing this revolt in relation to the fuel tax hike. However, word on the skreet is that may be how it started, but it’s growing into a much larger nationalist movement. Seems many in the EU are starting to lash out at their globalist govco leaders in favor of putting their own citizenry and heritage first.

    Burn it down.
