Claude Werner - "Maybe I Was Wrong About Pocket Pistols".

I think that many people discount the magnitude of the health issues that drive the use of certain equipment/calibers. With all my hip problems, I prefer to carry a 9mm in a shoulder holster. When I can't do that, I am fine with carrying my Tomcat in my pocket. It isn't ideal, but having hip problems isn't ideal either.

Next time your shooting your “mouse gun” (I do carry a M&P Bodyguard 380 alot) or “pocket pistol” and someone talks crap about it then ask them this, “would you want to get shot with it?” That normally solves that problem. Any gun you carry be it s cannon or a small .22 is better than no gun at all. Now, that doesn’t mean it is effective in stopping the threat quickly or with “one shot”.

I always ask folks who scoff at any smaller calibre pistol if they'll let me shoot then with it as it's so harmless.

I've carried my P380 instead of my G26 three times now since that video came out. I'm lazy, or a believer. Take your pick.
I carry my M&P Bodyguard 380 a lot in the summer because when I don’t want to carry a bigger gun because it’s easy to conceal in sweat/gym type shorts. Now the winter my Glock 19 and M&P9c go regularly with the 380 as my BUG

If some punk is trying to rob you or carjack your car, they are not going to take the time to discern the caliber they are being shot at with and decide if they should continue the assault, or disengage.

Many have successfully defended themselves with a 22lr pistol.

If it is some crazed drug addict, even a 45ACP or more powerful is only going to stop them if the shot incapacitates them immediately, i.e. brain pan, or spinal cord. People continue to fight even when the wound is not survivable. Handguns are NOT man stoppers.

Yea, and I'm lazy, and I like my comfort, and my P238 in a pocket holster is just as easy to carry as my phone or wallet.

"Average" gun carriers are basically lazy and will carry anything that is more comfortable than a full size piece. I will agree that any gun is better than no gun, but so is a rubber band compared to a feather.
He never mentions anything about projectile weight or velocity, important considerations. And then there's the matter of being effective on the attacker. If it's not effective at stopping the bad guys actions immediately then it's not something that should be carried.
Personally, I carry the same gun, winter, summer and fall. ONE set of controls, ONE position, same position every time. If/when crap comes to a head I know exactly where my gun is and exactly what it takes to get it into action.
And another thing, was everybody in Special Forces, Rangers and whatnot?? Wasn't there any "regular" Army/Navy/Marine guys that ever served??

What gun are you carrying?

I have really bad back issues and I have limits on what I can carry. Some days are better than others, but I have found the Kahr PM model to be perfect for my bad days without sacrificing caliber power.

I don't wanna get shot with a super soaker full of pee...but that doesn't mean it's a good carry option. :p

Lcp in the summer, lc9s spring and fall and Taurus .44 spl snubbie in winter or whenever heavier clothing will still permit concealment.
I have had to use a handgun to defend myself twice in my life. (I am 72). In both cases it was not necessary to fire the weapon. Clearly, for me, caliber did not matter

I had to show my .25 to a guy who was coming at me at a fast walk, and he got a look and turned right around and left. But I feel better with my .380....and hope I never have to let anyone see it!

If I could carry like @Bailey Boat - same gun, same place, all day, every day - I would do so but I cannot. A pocket pistol is always an option for me when some circumstance arises requiring deep concealment. It's not often and never my first choice, but it's important to have the option.
