Who makes the cleanest burning handgun (or rifle) ammo?
It seems to me that WWB and Tula are the dirtiest, what are your experiences?
I'm not a serial gun cleaner, I usually just wipe them down after shooting until I get 500 to 1000 rds through them. After I clean my carry weapon (more often than 500 rds lol), I immediately take it out and run a mag through it to make sure I haven't screwed something up.

I use mainly Federal, Remington and Blazer Brass 9mm and .38 special and 5.56/.223. They seem to be about the same and cleaner than most of the other stuff I've tried. Aguila, while reliable, seems to run dirtier than most, I haven't tried Tula yet. Rimfire, CCI hands down IMHO. I haven't tried the rimfire Blazer yet. One of the guys that posts here from time to time uses it a lot going by his posts, and he hasn't made a single complaint about it.

As far as cleaning, I just function check with a snap cap when done. I do however always run a mag of my SD ammo through my EDC when I go to the range and always immediately clean it afterwards. If all I run is the one or two mags, I just boresnake it and make sure the feed ramp is clean. Thorough cleaning if I shoot more than that. Just because.

The dirtiest ammo I’ve ever dealt with was Winchester Forged steel cases stuff. If shot fine, but the cases were all coated with this powdered black stuff.

After that is generally any steel is going to be about the same due to not sealing the chambers as well. But as far as brass cases I’ve never noticed much of a difference between brands.

American Eagle makes red coated ammo. It looks as though your magazine is loaded with lipsticks. I have a case on the way and one in the garage. I haven't shot much of it yet but another forum member mentioned to me that it left his pistol pretty filthy.

Cleanest burning I have found is Fiocchi FMJ. Before I started Handloading, I used it in my blowback carbines exclusively due to its clean burn.

I was using perfecta (supposedly made by fiocchi) and it was pretty clean, accurate and cheap. I wish Wally world would not have dropped them.

use a mixed bag now. Winchester white box and wolf are both pretty dirty. Blazer brass is pretty good

That stuff is absolutely filth, but I shoot a lot of it, because I can get the 150 round boxes from wal mart for 23 bucks. Lately I’ve been noticing this white crap all over the casings and it seems like it’s dirtier than it used to be When it first came out.

Yeah, that Perfecta was pretty handy from Wally. Especially the .380. Some online retailers have it, bit it doesn't seem like such a bargain like from Wally. It is made in Italy by Fiocchi. The only real problem I've had with any Fiocchi ammo is with the cheap 12 gauge low recoil slugs (1145 fps) I use for practice since the MV matches the Federal FliteControl LE buckshot I use for home defense . I think those are made in Missouri. Runs fairly clean, but I get the occasional shell that won't feed or will hang up part way out of the mag for some reason and one I tried to slam home actually had the brass peel back in a spot, just like a banana. Now I just manually feed it on the rare occasions I get a bad one.

I digressed from the real subject...Fiocchi ammo does run pretty clean.

WWB I have no opinion on other than it's the only ammo that I've had thus far in 9mm that has had seriously dud rounds in more than one box. I mean won't fire on the second strike duds. I don't buy it anymore, and don't recall if it was especially dirty.

I was discussing ammo choices one day with David, owner of Outdoor Limited. If I recall correctly, he told me that he runs WWB. Interesting considering the abundant choices available to him and what little it must cost him to shoot whatever he wants.

YMMV I guess. My experience sucked right off, so I just didn't buy anymore. If I see some real cheap at Wally or someplace I'll give it another shot.

Man I had trouble with that Perfecta in 45acp. Lots of light loads and really dirty.
They just about have to give any Fiocchi to me. I've never had any real luck with it. Maybe I just don't have any guns it likes.
The Blazer ammo runs fine enough but I'm convinced it's inaccurate as hell. Bullets wandering all over the place and I know I ain't that bad.
Federal/American Eagle, Seller & Bellot, PPU and Magtech are some that I like. They all do about the same job with the same dirt. All are reliable. I got one Walther that loves the WWB. Ragged holes. Go figure.
My favorite is probably PMC. The empty shells are always the cleanest and the accuracy is pretty good. Never had a failure in any caliber. PMC is usually my go-to range ammo when I can get it on the cheap.

I've got some of that TSJ in 40. Haven't shot any of it. The pitch is it's supposed to be cleaner with cleaner powder and the lipstick has less fouling. I have two 40's that need to be exercised so I'll try it and report back.

I have found the Federal/American Eagle Syntech (45ACP) to be one of the cleaner burning ammunitions. I went through approximately 300 rounds at the Area 6 match this year, and found it to be cleaner than Magtech, Winchester, American Eagle (standard rounds), & Remmington.

The Federal/American Eagle Syntech and Magtech have been the cleanest that I have shot.

Any American Eagle centerfire pistol ammo has been the cleanest I have fired that is commonly available. Blazer also burns clean for me.

I've never shot any Tula ammo, but the WWWB is about the dirtiest ammo I've used. It was so bad I quite using it.
On the other end of the scale all of the Georgia Arms ammo I've used has been very clean.

Winchester and Perfecta are the dirtiest ammo I have ever shot. Anything in Walmart is low quality.

Almost anything made in Germany is high quality powder. The cleanest by far for me has been MEN ammo made in Germany. Cost more, better primer seal, and brass is beautiful. 10,000 rounds or more without ever a misfire. I buy it off SGammo.com.
