Anyone running a Cloud Defensive OWL? I'm looking at picking up a used one for use on an AK, mounted to an Ultimak. My main concern is heat on the switch. - Any reason to be concerned about the electronics?

I'm grabbing a Modlite PLHv2 for an AR, and was going to do the same for the AK, but the OWL looks like a good option for the AK.

Yup I have one, really like it. It’s a little on the big side but it’s built like a tank and works well with pistols/SBRs. I wouldn’t be concerned about the heat issue at all, I don’t think you could break this thing and even if you did, I’m sure Cloud would take care of it.
 
I have an OWL that I run on an Ultimak on my Zastava M92 ZPAP. I emailed Cloud Defensive about that exact issue and they say yes it's fine. It's a pretty much ideal setup for that gun due to the limited rail space, and the OWL is pretty much the most indestructible WML out there. Cloud seems quite confident that it can take the heat, based on my conversation with them.

The only complaint I have about the OWL is that it's not *conveniently* ambidextrous. Yeah you can reach behind the rear cap to activate the light from your weak-hand side, but unless you've got really long thumbs (I don't), that grip is very uncomfortable for momentary on/off.

Cloud's customer service is great btw. They replaced my tailcap for free no problem when I uggachuggad the hex key on the tailcap a little too hard and turned the hex shape into a circle. :D

Nothing specific to add, but I’m very pleased w my Owl. It gets moved around a lot. So much so that I have considered a second one.

I’ve used it on my arsenal sam7sf with whatever quad rail that comes with it. Functioned fine for a couple of mag dumps, but very bulky. I didn’t like it because of how bulky it was and if I were actually using that gun in a situation needing a white light I would probably opt for a modbutton or something similar.
