Looks like CMMG is making a 4.6x30 (think MP7) AR/upper with 40 round mags. Looks like Fiocchi makes 4.6 and is currently around 80 cpr. Not cheap, but a little cheaper than 5.7 currently.

This might catch some MP7 fans who don’t have any other options currently. Guess it’ll fall into the niche of 5.7, 22TCM and others like them.

not worth it to me
that cartridge was made to be shot from a super compact pdw. a sbr AR isn't that
if hk would just release a semiauto pdw pistol mp7... i think they'd have a decent market

I’m all for choices, but I don’t get it. The purpose of those PDW cartridges is to be used in PDWs. If one is going to have a gun the size of an AR, why spend twice as much on ammunition for half the performance?

Same reason they make 10mm PCCs, someone somewhere thinks that a slightly more powerful pistol round in a carbine is way superior than an actual rifle round in the same size PCC.

Or... it keeps the FUDDs from stealing your brass at the range!

We are gun nuts…since when do we need a good reason to spend money on something just because it sends a shiver up our legs?

I get buying stuff just to buy stuff, I just don't see what the appeal of this particular one is and as to why they would even make such a thing. It takes a lot of effort to design/market/manufacture something (presumably) and to sell enough of them to recoup that cost alone can't be trivial. Are there enough people who go "look, a new caliber!" and jump on board to make that happen?

It's an AR pattern. They need a chamber reamer, some buffers to play with, and a fresh bolt to turn a little less of the face out of.
The hardest part will probably be developing a mag insert and follower because the cartridge is about 3/4" shorter than .223

Rather have my CMMG .45 pcc‘s. My gg mags hold 30, that’s plenty.

And then you can do this for 60 if the zombies are really thick. 9542183D-034B-4B21-9B26-6FDC508308C6.jpeg

Cool that's what's great about America. I dont need a reason for anything. It's my right to do what I want.
I'm personally got to get one for the heck of it. I got other things that people think are a waste, but I don't care.

For an SBR/braced pistol 10mm makes sense. I think around 10" it produces about the same energy as 5.56, and much easier to suppress.

Just my guess here…AR mags were already done for the 5.7, so I assume they just did a little adjustment on the follower and lips.

I saw Honest Outlaw's video on it. It's neat! That ammunition is ludicrously expensive whether or not there's a supply shortage, so I'm not sure if I'd ever buy it. But from a mechanical perspective, I'm excited to see it.

Cmmg has not taken any orders since September... why the hell are they putting out new options when they can't fill orders?
