CMP 1911A1 1943 Colt frame with a Remington Rand Upper. Looks like it went through Springfield Armory and then Anniston in 1978. GHD marked which I am told stands for Guy H Drewry officer in charge of the Springfield Ordnance District. Overall I am pretty happy with it. I shot it and it ran well. Grouped as well as I can shoot it at 7, 10 and 15 yards. The rollmarks are still clean and visible. They are not over polished like many Anniston rebuilds. It will be going to my father in law who carried a similar gun in Vietnam.

Looks really good. The finish on the slide and frame is nice and consistant. Some of the CMP 1911A1s vary quite a bit. Nice of you to get it for you FIL.
Wonder why the armory didn't toss the Slide Release in some cleaner? I used to buy/sell M1 carbines and would get a lot of that buildup on small parts. You can soak that off if you want, or leave it alone as it adds character. Cheers.
