I traded into this this weekend and as I look closely a “mystery” comes to life

Here is my cheesy cobbled guess

made by Colt, sold/exported to Russia
someone there engraved (or is it Colt engraving?) gun and fitted it (see barrel is serialed to match gun) with barrels
forend looks original however stock looks to be changed
then imported back to the states by cai

sound correct?

why would a higher dollar American gun find its way to Russia then have money put into it to re-barrel? Looks by virtue of sling attachment point to have been hunted, maybe a wealthy Russian who hunted lol

please chime in with any correction/additions and of course thoughts of value

thanks!96EBB19C-1FD8-4200-AA5A-C51965280862.jpeg03FD7B24-4ED1-4868-B1C5-B8663DF97707.jpeg6B450A1E-6D37-4027-B979-016AB733D166.jpegE4D3EE7D-8E6D-442B-A60B-E4DFCC36AC85.jpeg7E1DEC40-7CDA-4CE2-A615-FCD0B9CBE7E6.jpeg5AB73FC4-E063-4253-99D2-AE844CCB5501.jpeg330A3745-3583-4CDA-9F98-80F4D5156D2C.jpeg49060979-1B46-4408-9D24-E63107C01511.jpeg

Good morning. Sorry, it’s not a Colt. It is some sort of inexpensive overseas make; perhaps Russian, bit could also be Belgian made for someone else, but someone equipped it with Colt lock plates, if they are real.

I have a Colt hammergun here for repair right now, and it is very different.

If you’re around Durham, you’re welcome to bring it by and we can compare.

Thanks,

Bill Graham

Excellent thanks for the input that starts to shed light on a few questions revolving around this one!
