Colt Salvage? Help!

Hey guys! Sorry this took so long. Wasn't intentionally ignoring this thread.

In the past couple of months I've had a tremendous amount of lifestyle changes to deal with. Started a new job in an entirely unrelated field to my previous occupation. It's a very well paying job, and my family kind of needed that right now. But it keeps me out of town a lot. It's been pretty difficult getting my head straight. Learning a new occupation on the fly. Getting used to temporarily residing in a big city 5 hours from home. Heck, even trying to fall asleep away from my little shire-like homestead has been a challenge. No wife or dog in the bed. It has taken some getting used-too.

Anyway, I'm home for a few days and was able to snap some pics.

I'm afraid to report that I believe it to be un-salvageable. We ended up having to drill out a screw to get on the inside. Thanks to help from friends we were able to get it unloaded and the cylinder open.

It would have been neat to get it running, but alas it is not in the cards.

@Carolinatlc , you mentioned wanting the grips. You are welcome to have the whole thing for parts at no charge if we can figure out a way to hook-up. Or maybe I can catch somebody heading your way and send it with them. Just let me know if that interests you. If not you are welcome to just the grips and I can mail those. But I figure the shroud would be worth saving as well.

Awesome, Iā€™d love it. Iā€™m sure we can work something out with me picking up or @thecarman. Thanks and good luck with the new job!

Now that thrillhill has replied, I will expand on what I found. The barrel may have about 1/2 inch of rifling left in it. The forcing cone looks like 80 grit sand paper. The side plate where the cylinder latch is was eaten up by the fertilizer. The worst part is there is a crack in the frame on the front side of the the cylinder stop.

The good is, most of the internals were ok and salvageable.
