AA260BA5-C9A1-4082-ABC3-102F723E2713.jpeg All I know is it’s a Colt Single action Army .45 . Any help on year would be a help. Kinda looking value also. Mods, I didn’t know if I should put it here or appraisals. Found this one first. Gun looks like it just made. No cylinder mark or signs of being fired. The owners wife said the grips cost 700 bucks. ( pearl I think) No way to verify that.

I don’t own a revolver but I think this one is pretty cool looking. One of my wife best friends husband passed a few months back and so she sent it to me to buy or help her sale. Just looking a value thats fair for both parties.

Looks like a 3rd generation from 1999.

Yep, 1999 3rd Gen. I’ve seen them for the pass couple year at $2000 -$2500 sell as well as sit because the market for SA revolvers is more collector now. As usual with box and paperwork the collectibility and price go up. Those grips are pretty and from that one picture do look to be fitted very nicely so the question would be are they real mother of pearl which can run $400-500 or a very nice imitation which can be $100 or so. A good way to tell is remove one grip and look at the back ... you can usually tell polymer from real by the surface.

Dang I like this thing,, so offer 1800????? She said she doesn’t know where the box is.

I’ll take one off tommorow and see if I can tell anything.

No box and non-mother of pearl ... I think you’d be giving more than a gun shop would. Fair ... for both but I’d say a little more to your favor.

Also if you want another way to check if they are not polymer you can put a drop or two of light oil on the back and see if it’s MoP/calcium carbonate and soaks in quickly or polymer and sits on the surface.

MM has a nice non-commie gun?

What is this world coming too?

That's a beautiful firearm for sure. If it were me I would offer to sell it to her and say "I really like this, but I could only pay you X amount of dollars...if I try to sell it I could possibly get Y amount." That way I would be honest about its value as well as putting the ball in her court if she wants to sell to a friend for less, or a stranger for more because she needs the cash.

A gun shop wouldn't give $1000. On GB, that gun will bring $1600-$2000, more if those are real pearl grips.

Well at least I own a wheel gun now
If it’s MoP is not a material I’d do much with. It’s on the brittle side and chips and cracks fairly easily. That there is a BBQ revolver and you need some fancy pimped out holster to carry it in.

George Patton supposedly said when asked about his pearl handled revolvers ...
Son, only a pimp in a Louisiana whorehouse carries a pearl handled revolver ... these are ivory.

But hey, pimpin’ ain’t easy! :D

I’m getting some kind a holster for it today that came with it

18372EAB-9FFC-49AD-A56B-9B30D95C11E8.jpeg Well I still don’t know anything, the olive oil just sat there. The back sides seemed kinda polished but nothing like the front. I’m thinking there may be a little hope that they may be real. They have some serous weight to them and I noticed a place where a little indented, whatever they are they are as pretty as me. There are imperfections on the backs. The lady said she was with her husband when he picked the gun up from Davi’s once they were put on. She shahid it was a tad under 700 bucks. I told my wife just because they paid 7 didn’t make them real:)
I do know for a fact he didn’t go cheap on anything.

18FCAB53-EA29-404F-AB2C-8ED5C4D5C52C.jpeg I’m a damn cowboy now, just got to get down to what I’m guessing is about a 32 waist. In other words I’ll never wear it:) Anybody need this holster set up?

Maybe you could wear it like one of those tactical leg drop holsters.

The tooling marks sure look like something with MoP. Olive oil might be a little thick but it also doesn’t look as if it’s beading but maybe some absorption. Those with the lady’s statement, the weight and you saying he didn’t go cheap makes me think you got real MoP.

Be careful when tightening the grip screws not to over tighten and snap them ... MoP is on the delicate side.

Those look like the real deal to me.

Looks like MOP versus MOT*.

George Patton
George Patton was a coward of the first order. Remember Other peoples blood and Other peoples guts. He once left his wife and jumped out of a window to escapes somebody shooting at him....oh the shooting at him?? His own Colt .32 slipped down inside his pants and shot when it struck the floor. My Father was with him from Casablanca to Berlin. He had his and his folks opinions of Patton and none were good.

I’d match @BatteryOaksBilly ’s offer if I didn’t think he’d exclude me from the next get together.

Have you rubbed one of them against a front tooth yet? Seriously. If it’s real it’ll feel oddly gritty, if it’s plastic it’ll be slick. If you have any real vs fake pearls the wife will let you play with you can get a feel for it.
