Once I talk to the NFA dude there, I’m going to see if I can shoot it in their indoor range while it’s in jail. I’ve got to get a brake on the rifle first :p

lol it was a dumpster fire from the start. I had to post in PSA’s industry forum on ARFCOM and the CS guy on there got their director of sales involved. I just checked and like you said, apparently the thread got deleted. WOW. That’s some shady stuff....can they do that? They didn’t want to look bad...I didn’t violate any terms

I’ll try to find a cached version otherwise I’ll have to retype the whole thing

    Edit:
Found the cached version which has none of their replies or anything. Just my OP and nothing else. Wow

Yes they can delete/moderate how they want in their industry section. Post it in the NFA section and they can’t touch it.

They delete a lot of threads in their section. Several I know I’ve posted in, and one or two I started. They’re often deleted without a reply even posted, and I know I never got an IM with the answer to my question.

I tried to split this up as best as I can to avoid wall of text. Hold on to your butts, as Samuel L Jackson in Jurassic Park says.

I paid for the can on May 3rd. Instead of filling out the forms right away, they had me fill out a contact sheet with my generic info on it (Name, #, address, suppressor details to match up etc) and I was told someone would call me to set up an appointment to come back in and fill the forms out. No mention of needing photos, prints, payment etc so if this had been my first purchase....no go.

I waited until about Wednesday of the following week and I called the store and got the info of the guy who was responsible for the paperwork, so I could call and/or email him. I ended up calling twice and emailing once with no reply. (More on this later)

I never heard from that guy but the front counter got me to another manager on May 13th who was filling in from Greenville with the juice to do forms (so I thought) and we agreed to meet the following day. So I got my triple P’s (prints, photos and payment) and came to the store on May 14th to take care of the problem. Solved one mystery: The compliance manager who’s info I’d been given had quit some weeks back and that was a reason for the delay. No explanation why they weren’t forwarding his calls or why they didn’t disable his email. Wow. So we fill out my forms and I tell the guy I can mail them myself, since I have an envelope with me pre-addressed. Problem! This manager has the ability to fill out the form but someone else has to sign it! He assured me the forms will go out on Friday May 17th.

I call near COB on Friday to verify. “No, the forms are right here on the desk. They will go out early next week....but possibly Thursday or Friday” . Don’t lie to me, if you batch mail, just say so! Ok I will be calling back.

Call back on May 24th, same thing. Forms are in the box waiting to mail with the rest. I am agitated. I get no straight answer about the hold up but I am told FOR SURE they’ll mail out on the 31st. Uhhhh do they only do MONTHLY batch mailings???? Are they stringing me along on purpose???

I go to the store at lunch on May 31st. If they are gone to the USPS, great. If they are still there, oh well, at least I can do it. The manager (4th one I’ve dealt with by now) goes back to check this infamous box. He returns empty handed and says “Your forms mailed two weeks ago. I’m not sure why you were told otherwise but they’re in the mail”. I respond by saying my payment hasn’t cleared yet if it’s been 2 weeks (remember this for later). The manager says well sometimes it can take 2-3 months. I am skeptical and say so but thank him and leave. At this point I’ve had three people tell me three things about my forms, the ATF doesn’t have them, they’re in the wind.

I post this on ARFCOM on 6/3 after several days of my payment not cashing...my disbelief in the “two weeks ago” story finally boiled over. The CS rep on ARFCOM says he will have the director of sales call me. I wait through the weekend and post on 6/10 and ask if anyone is supposed to call. The CS rep says they tried and left a voicemail on 6/6. My phone and voicemail logs dispute this wholeheartedly. I ask if they can try again, which is successful.

The Director of sales was a genuinely nice guy. He truly seemed like the events bothered him and that no excuse was even worth saying because they screwed up and are owning it. He did attribute some of the delay to several mid level managers leaving without notice almost simultaneously, which depleted their NFA knowledge and authorization. He vowed to dig into this and call me back the following day after going to the store and turning over the stones so to speak

On 6/11 he calls back. My forms were mailed Friday May 31st. They were in the store when the guy told me they mailed them two weeks prior. I guess he was trying to avoid a scene and wanted to get me out of the store. The director can’t justify the behavior but says something about dealing with it. To make up for the hassle, he offers to pay for the stamp. I tell him I already got a great deal on the can ($250 for a $600+ suppressor) and I wasn’t looking for anything but my forms. He insisted on trying to smooth things over. Wellllllll if you insist.... He leaves me his cell # if any further issues arise.

My payment cleared that afternoon. So much for the 2-3 months as quoted by pants-on-fire....

And that’s the story of how I got a brand new Mini-4 and tax stamp for $250

I’ve never had it take 2-3 months for a payment to clear. I can’t remember a single one that took 2-3 weeks. And it’s a fairly decent sample size. :D

The main reason for this, in case anybody reading it isn’t aware, is that you don’t mail your forms to the ATF. The PO Box is the vendor that does nothing but process the payment, box the forms up, and send them to the NFA Division.

So...no matter how screwed up the process is and how long forms are taking to get approved, the money is gone fast. And for anybody that writes a check, don’t look for the check number being cashed. They convert it to an ACH/EFT, so look for the $200 instead.

The crap you went through makes it less enticing.

But curiously, are they open on Sunday?

    Yes they are

And that’s why I posted it innthis thread; is saving $350 worth it?

The finish on this one looks spotless. Mine was definitely displayed for a few months, but the inside is perfect and the latch isn’t worn. I’m sure AAC would refinish it but I’ll be spray painting it basically as soon as it gets home
