Common misconceptions about AK's.

I read an article once by a former SF type talking about how trying to apply the US approach to the rifleman caused several misconceptions.

Most notable was not applying Soviet mindset to combat..using a heavier round the goal was to rely less on volume of fire and more on hitting the target in the torso to remove them from the fight. So the Soviets taught to aim at the belt regardless of the distance with the rifle zeroed at 300yds. Aiming at center should result in belt level hit at 300..belly or chest at 200 and chest or head at 100. Even a shoulder or arm hit was considered successful with that round.
