I will certainly hit you up on that at some point! That's next on my wish list after I get married in October. Darn weddings are pricey these days.. :)

So I have done the DPRC matches in the past, they are tons of fun. I have also done the 22PRL matches @Frontline Defense. If you really want to stretch your skill that's the match. 22lr out to 300 yards is no joke. It is a good lead in into centerfire long range precision shooting. Paul's matches at Frontline will have either multiple targets or multiple positions on a stage. It's tough but fun.

Sounds fun. Seems to be only about an hour and a half from me. I'd love to go up there and at least check out the facility....heard it's really nice.

Yeah it's a nice facility. Have shot a few matches up there this year. About an hour and 50 minutes for me down near Fuquay. Should be less for you from Raleigh. They just had the 22 PRL match this past weekend but he will be doing more.

    Good luck with the wedding.

Just saw your post. Thanks for whoever tagged me. We run our own Absolute Zero Sniper Match, then turn around and run my 22PRL match out to 300yds. Same props, and size relation as our 1,000yd game. Matches are free to watch. I have an intro to competitive Long Range class this Saturday the 28th. 2 Slots left. I also run intro to long range courses as well. All info on my website. www.frontlinedefenseusa.com[IMG]

Once things settle down, I am interested in doing the NRL22 matches. My 10/22 is built out pretty much, I will probably switch scopes to the 3-18 Athena Primary Arms when it’s released. So after that, I will get all set up for it.

    Is there a squad meta?
Like is squad 1 the tryhard production shooters, and 3 the open guys the have to spend 5 minutes each pre running the course? If so is there a 'fun' squad?

@Prudii , not at any match I've been to.

With self squadding people usually squad with people they know/like, or consider "the competition" that sometimes shakes out to squads heavy in a division or certain class/level.

Search old emails or look on practi score. Might pop up somewhere. If not then call on Monday.

Join recently? Do they still send the packet with an issue of Front Sight? I think it is on there. Look up old results if you've shot any matches. Pretty sure a MD can do a search by name if you know any of them. Otherwise email USPSA they're pretty quick to respond.

I have a question if someone has time. A few years back I was putting together my collection to start shooting 2/3 Gun. Well life got in the way for a while but I am back ready to try it again. Since the closest comp to me is about 1-1/2 hours away and they are not very frequent I was thinking of shooting some pistol matches. I still have my xdm-9 5.25 and it has a magwell, 141 mm mags, trigger, guide rod and extended mag release. So.... my question is. Should I shoot Limited minor for a while? Should I take off the magwell, add red dot and shoot CO?
    Thanks for any help!

Shoot limited minor if your intention is 3gun practice.

There are also several pistol (at True North) and 2gun matches(Central Carolina Gun Club and PHA) that the pistol will be ok in.

If a dot interests you, dump the magwell and shoot CO. It's very enjoyable.
I'd shoot production before I'd shoot limited minor. There are occasional people that do well with it, I'd feel I was leaving points on the table.

I have a few. I was looking over the match for GoShoot match (USPSA) on June 22, and it says one of the stages will be a classifier. Can I go shoot just a classifier? Do I need to be in a class? Are there advantages to being in a class?
    Thanks, I know I ask a lot of questions....lol.

Not normally. USPSA's classifier is not like IDPA. It is based, initially, off your scores from 4 classifier stages (or possibly major matches). The classifiers are standardized courses of fire scores tallied nationally to arrive at your percentage.
Around here most USPSA matches will have a classifier as one of the stages. You must be a member of USPSA to get a classification. You do not need to be a member or classified to shoot. I like that the classification system gives a feel for how you compare nationally. Doesn't really serve any official purpose unless you shoot level 2 or higher matches. An all classifier match is the quick route, but they're rare.

I am a member of both IDPA and USPSA. Can I just shoot the classifier part of the match, though? And what is a level 2 match?

I don't know that there's any rule against it, so I suppose at the match director's discretion you possibly could.

@Wolffy would know more about all of it.

There is no rules against it. It would be at the match directors discretion on if they would allow it and how they would manage it.

Are there any .22 matches? I bought and "built" a 10/22 probably 10 years ago to do precision matches. Kidd barrel....Volquartsen trigger parts, Boyd stock.... etc

I need to get my butt to some matches!

@JimP42 runs a really cool rimfire precision match near Mebane. Maybe he’ll chime in.

Yeah that's a drive to DPRC. The challenge match is next month so it's a little more shooting so might be worth the drive. You can look here.

Jim did the scores come out from last week? Wasn't sure if I missed them. Thanks.

I would start by looking on PractiScore and nrl22.org for matches.

The closest NRL 22 would be in Warrenton at Front Line Defense which is nearly as far at 2.7 hours. DPRC is probably about 3 for you. Check with all the ranges in your driving distance. 22 matches can be held on 100 yard pistol ranges so don’t limit the search to places with rifle ranges. Might even find an indoor range. Wake county has a 100 yard indoor range but no precision 22 matches there.

I didn’t try to search on PractiScore near Wilmington but that might turn something up too.

Just found out I'm not working this weekend.

Are there any USPSA matches near the triad that still have open positions?

Edit: I'm in squad 6 for RPS on Saturday.

Yes, if you load it with 10 plus 1 in the chamber you can shoot in SSP or ESP Divisions.

If you load 8 plus 1 in the chamber you can shoot it in CDP Division.

Will the 41 fit into the box?

Looks like it’s three one hundredths of an inch too long.

For anything below a tier three match, the answer is probably “yes”.

For USPSA production, can I have OEM Glock+ 2 extension. I know that I can only have 10 rounds. Is it legal to have the extensions as long as I only load 10rds, or will i need to take the extenaions off?

You’re fine for a level I (local) match. If you shoot a major match your gun will have to fit in the production box with a mag inserted. A Glock 34 with Taran +3 basepads fits, I don’t know if the plastic Glock +2s are the same size. If you are going to shoot a level II or higher, find someone with a production box and check it out. Your local match director should have one.

I think my club, Buccaneer does .22 precision rim fire matches, check the website for dates. It won’t do anything for accuracy but if you want to check your raw speed ant hill range does a steel challenge match the 2nd Sunday of each month.
