One of my college suite-mates did a lot of missionary work in Mexico. He used to tell us about running from the Mexican cops while he was down there because even if you were completely innocent of everything, you didn't want to be around when the Mexican cops show up. It appears we are one step closer to that baseline every day.

Poleeeeeece in Florence this week tried to serve a search warrant...Homey was havin none of it...He shoots at Poleeeeece and 3 Poleceeeeeece shoot back. All 4 shootin like Hell....not a single person hit. Everyone got to go to jail and home safe.

Huff and his girlfriend, who were inside the home with a 3-year-old girl, heard something outside. Huff told his attorney that he retrieved his shotgun in case it was Gutierrez trying to break in.

While Huff was facing away from the window, an officer suddenly fired into the house, striking Huff in the back, Baumgartner said.

If I see someone with a firearm outside my window and I shoot them in the back, my ass is going to jail.

I'll add that I like how the article plays up the previous charges and convictions of the victim. The police also charged the victim with assault and menacing after shooting him. WTH?

Probably not, in NC, with some caveats. If they were in the curtilage, then Castle kicks in and you are in pretty good shape, legally. But if the deceased had already left your home and was running away, then you better show some restraint.
