So,
I'm working a slow motion project to cut my cable bill. I have a Tablo 4 along with a Seagate Expansion 3TB drive loaded in my Amazon cart. I haven't pushed buy yet because I found some people having a lot of trouble with the HDD disconnecting from the Tablo or something like that. Anyone here using Tablo? @Oneofsix , @MostWanted I saw you guys had mentioned having Tablos do you still use them? Any HDD problems?

My current plan is OTA antenna to Tablo4 w/the 3TB drive to Roku Ultra and Stick+.

Thanks
JR

I didn't have the same problem- my Tablo did take a power surge so it's gone. Check out the ChannelMaster device that at last check was in pre-order stage. That is what I'm going to get next, at $99 and no subscription few it looks pretty good and has built-in Chromecast

Interesting but I'll save enough to pay for the Tablo (but not the hdd) before the chanel master ships. Unless someone chimes in with a bad review I think I'll go for the tablo then change if it doesn't work.

I'm still a big fan of Tablo. Mine will be three years old in April, and I've never had any trouble with it at all. I've convinced a couple of my friends to get one, and they thank me every time I come over to their house.

I will take this opportunity once again to warn you about Simple TV, a competitive product that is pure junk. I paid hundreds of dollars for it and after about four months, threw it in the trash. Getting my wife to agree to cut the cord was difficult, and after a few months of Simple.TV, she was ready to bring back cable. Fortunately, I found Tablo and it's been great ever since.

What brand and size HDD are you using?

We cut Dtv, and added Youtube Tv in the meantime- the Mrs likes it and is adjusting well...she and I were both a bit addicted to the DVR...
I've re-purposed the 3 Tb drive from my Tablo as a backup for work and plan to get the Stream Plus to replace the burnt Tablo-

Stream+ Media Player, CM-7600"> Stream+ Media Player

Stream+ is a media player that integrates streaming services and games with live broadcast TV and includes an on-screen channel guide with DVR capability to pause, rewind and record live TV. The powerful Android TV™ platform includes Google Play™ store, Live Channels™ DVR and built-in Chromecast™.

YMMV....

I’m doing a fire stick with Amazon’s prime and sling tv. Saved me like $100 a month. Got the digital antenna too. We love it.

I’ve got a digital antenna as well and get about 50 channels. I bought a firestick from amazon Black Friday week because they were about half off. I jailbroke it this past week with a Kodi build and so far it’s pretty awesome

I'm just kicking myself over the $ I dropped on the Tablo, then it got surged. YouTube Tv has the online storage/DVR and the wife uses it way more than she did the Tablo. I'll wait on the Stream+ until it's in production, then read some reviews before I buy one.

I did the trial on youtube tv and the streaming quality sucked. No more than 480p on anything.

Do yourself a favor and get an OTG cable for for the stick to allow you to use a wireless mouse with it. You'll enjoy using it with APKs and will hardly use Kodi. One like this: https://www.amazon.com/1397895-Micr...7174934&sr=8-9&keywords=otg+cable+for+android
