So every May 20th, Charlotte celebrates the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence - purportedly the first such declaration made in these United States back on May 20th, 1775 (the first date on the NC Flag). Some say it is a complete fabrication as no original copy survives, others a misunderstanding over the Mecklenburg Resolves, also from May of '75.
At any rate, on May 20th each year, the SAR, DAR, CAR, local reenactors, the May 20th Society, etc - get together to read the thing, recognize its importance.......
.......and shoot muskets and a cannon in the very middle of downtown Charlotte at Trade and Tryon and again at the founders cemetery.
I forgot to post them on the 20th. I'm the one closest to the camera and with the red stockings....
This is also my 1763(66) Charleville rather than my Short Land Pattern Bess.
