Anyone here hunt coyotes on a regular basis? I have a Fox Pro Inferno and a Flextone hand held call. The Fox Pro also has the whirly gig animal thing. I'm just wondering what call sequences y'all use and how long do you call? I've had them howl back to me but have not had them show themselves. I know I got busted by the wind twice. Any info or videos all seem to be in the mid west or west and they make it look easy.

I hunt them in south GA every 3 months or so. I own land down there but hunt the surrounding farmers fields with their permission and blessings. I'll go down and hunt Friday and Sat night and come home Sunday afternoon. I only hunt at night in the fields where they tell me there is no livestock. My best weekend was 23 total.

Are you using NV or Thermal? I'm sorta easing into it. I've got a Trijicon 2.5-10x56 with red lit reticle and a Streamlight Game Spotter green light, pretty crisp out to 250 yds with my bad eyes. What calls are you using?

Red light on a tripod, old JW remote controlled caller set on a 5 gal bucket in the middle of the field. 22-250 until the wind blows then switch to a .243, sitting in the bed of my truck on the edge of the field with a shooting bench. Dying rabbit has always worked for me......

Hunting the woods is hard for Coyotes. They move swiftly. If you can get out into a field at night, that's how to reduce their numbers. I haven't even used night vision or thermal yet, red light works, but I've been looking at some night vision options.

Thought I'd bump this back up rather than start a new thread. I've been given permission to hunt about 85 acres in rural Anson county and know there must be plenty of coyotes out there. Any tips or advice you'd be willing to share would be appreciated.

I love coyote hunting. Usually use thermal imaging equipment. As for calls I have the most luck with the rabbits and occasionally use coyote vocals. Dark nights seem to be best, although I have killed a bunch between 7 and 9 i. The morning. I also have killed them about 30 minutes before dark. I wish you luck and if you need any pointers I am glad to share what limited amount of knowledge I have!

I may be wrong, but here in western York County where I live, I don't feel there are as many as one would think. I think there are several packs that roam, and roam a lot. They are there, or not it seems.

Wish someone would clear them out here in Salisbury, near Granite Quarry..My neighbors have lost two cats recently ,don't know how for sure. But a pack has moved in and can be heard most nights right after sunset screaming ( best term I can think of), luckily both of my outdoor cats must be lucky or wary because they are still alive. Im fortunate to have a fenced in back yard where my Catahoula Hound puppy runs in sometimes, he's interested when he's out there and they are calling. Even tho he's 5 months old now and 35 lbs, he wouldn't survive an encounter..

A friend from work uses some sort of diaphragm mouth call and kind of chirps or barks to get his in. He gets one every couple of weeks in Rutherford County. He has an electric one for some bunny rape sounds to get them going and finishes off with the mouth call.

Urban Yotes around my area don’t act quite the same as their western brothers. The ones I catch glimpse of tend to run quite often as singles ... occasionally I’ve caught sight of 2 maybe 3 but that’s it. They also don’t seem to be as vocal either. When using a call the rabbit distress or kid goat works well ... depends on what “food supply” they are use to. If they have been raiding chicken the chicken distress will pull ‘em in.

Also Boss Dog scent lure if you can set up for a general wind direction and use female whimper you have decent luck bringing the senior males who can be wiser and harder to deal with.

I hope he is hunting around the power plant. There are several in that area.

I've a few in my back yard I need to eliminate, where abouts are you in Chatham? I moved off of US-1/Pea Ridge Rd a year ago.

Bonlee. I would love to come one evening

I grew up in Bonlee and went to school there. Live outside of Siler City now. Have seen one coyote on cam last year, and have heard some a way off at night.
