I guess this is more of a "would you accept this?" Type question. I received this earlier as a brand new gun for a customer and upon closer inspection I noticed this crack. Appears to be at the surface only and doesn't go all the way through but it'll catch on a fingernail. I'm going to contact the distributor tomorrow for a return but wondered how common this was and if y'all would send it back or not. PXL_20220401_014750475.jpgPXL_20220401_014755523.jpg

Send it back. It's too long along the grain. Besides, as a customer, I wouldn't accept it anyway.

In my opinion the manufacturer should just send a new stock you can swap out for the customer. Sending the whole gun back and waiting for a new one to ship isn't efficient from the customer service perspective.

Hell no. If that wasn't disclosed on a gun I was getting off here I'd probably walk away too.

Wood tends to continue to split if it has already started.

The temp and humidity shifts from going outside and back will eventually split that stock wide open.

Most manufacturers are pretty good about replacing stocks.

When I was a kid my dad gave me a brand new Browning BPS.

First day I went out quail hunting I had it at port arms and I tripped and fell on the stock and broke it.

We contacted browning and told them what happened expecting to pay for a replacement. They said it shouldn’t have broken from a fall like that and sent a new stock under warranty.
