looking at tires on the expedition and f250, and will need them this year. i know we have some on the board that work in tire manufacturing and perhaps others in sales. i was looking for some insight into the current state of the market, am i better off pulling the trigger now (anticipating shortages latter in the year), or is it safe to let them ride for now. i could definitely pull the set on the exp and sell (i dont care for the toyo at2 and would like to upgrade to the at3 three peak rated. the KO2s on the truck were used (2016 manufacturing date code), with some good tread might could sell them, but probably just easier to dispose, would probably go with toyo at3 as well as the KO2 just seems to be a dated design.

just my opinions on the tires above, please chime in with any suggestions

Take a look at the General Grabber ATX. I’ve had mine for three years and have been a perfect light off road all season tire for Colorado.

I like my Falken Wildpeak AT3W

Run them in 285/75R18 (35") on the Gladiator
Run them in 285/65R18 (32.5") on the Chevy 2500

When i bought new tires for my Tundra in august last year, the shop had limited availability . I was originally looking for wildpeak at3w (had them on my previous tacoma) and they couldnt find em anywhere in the size I was after (275/70 r18). Was able to get Cooper stt pros, and I love em. We have Nitto terra grapplers (iirc) on our 4runner, and they look to be worn halfway down at 14k miles.

If you like the toyos and want a more aggressive tread the r/t are worth looking at. I have them on my 2500 diesel and been pleased with them so far. Much more pleased than the bfg ko2 they replaced.

Michelin and Continental brand tires are top tier IMO. After that Falken and Cooper make a great tire for the money.

I don’t bother looking elsewhere.

There is also the NOKIAN ROTIIVA AT PLUS but they are hard to find and usually pricey as a result.

LTX AT2 are a great tire! They wear very well, had multiple sets on both a full sized Chevy truck and a Jeep Cherokee (mid 90s, not that abortion they’re calling the Cherokee now) I wouldn’t hesitate to put them on a vehicle I was planning on putting lots of miles on but still wanted adequate all terrain performance out of.

if it’s going on something 4wd and you don’t put a lot of miles on, I prefer a more aggressive look.

The Ko2's also went through the roof as far as pricing goes. The same ones I paid $800 for 2 years ago are $1400 now. I'm not pleased with the ones I have now as one of them is super noisy. They were very quiet when I first got them.

I currently have Michelin LTX AT2s on my 4Runner.

I managed to get 80K+ out of the last set.

Same thing I just put on my Tacoma.
Happy with them.

decided with prices going up on seemingly everything that now is a good time to purchase, went with the toyo at3 and having them installed tonight.
