my daughter's .243 CVA Hunter single shot rifle is very hard to open the barrel after firing. It feels like the break down lever is stuck, and I've actually had to tap it with my boot heel once to get it open. The break barrel design is easy to open when the rifle is cold. I don't want to send it back to CVA if it's something simple. Any ideas?

If it's factory ammo have the rifle professionally checked. Headspace or locking mechanism.

Best to stop shooting it. A locked up gun is a gun approaching a failure point

Finally got around to messing with this rifle again, and found out the chamber was a little rough. Chucked a 410 mop in my drill, and polished the chamber. Works like it should now.

this. is. how you gitrdun
When I first got into 6.8 SPC in 2012, I bought a DPMS barrel with a rough/tight chamber. Polished it with the same mop I did this 243. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner. Getting old sucks....
