cw380 owners, how hard have you run your guns?

Anyone with a cw380, how hard have you run it? Put 100s of rounds through it in a range session, or tried to run it when it's not 100% sparkling clean? Fired it one handed, off handed or any way not two handed slow fire on a square range? Run it in a competition? Used cheap ammo? Used steel case ammo?

    No one?? Sigh.

I ask because I was running some drills with my LCP doing a ton of one-handed "get the hell off me" close fast shooting and started getting failures to go into battery every other round, and eventually gave up after this:

    double_feed.jpeg

I tried 3 different ammos and 3 mags, no combo would run 6 in a row without some sort of drama. It was clean before the range session, and to think I've carried this thing. It's been to Ruger once already, not sure it's worth a 2nd trip.

I had a CW380 at one point but it struggled with the ammo I had for it (can't remember the name but I think it started with a P). I couldn't get more than 3-4 rounds to shoot consecutively. One of the employees at Frontline Defense saw my struggles and gave me a box of his .380 and the gun functioned flawlessly with it but I only had 20 rounds, so I couldn't really put it through it's paces.

Between that and the fact that it was too small for my meat hooks, I sold it shortly thereafter

I have a G42 sized pistol, it just shoots 9mm... PM9. That's why I'm thinking cw380. LCP size, but hoping PM9 like reliability.

I've got the P-380 but I haven't tried to run it to failure though. Just 3 to 4 mags at a time and then practicing the pocket draw more so than the shooting. I haven't experienced any malfunctions though.

Since you were doing one-handed drills any chance you were limp wristing it? Will it run a full mag with a two hand hold?

It's possible, but I was hanging on to it as best as I could while using it like it would really be used. If it won't work in those conditions, it's not a viable carry option for me.

    Agreed.
Agreed. That's why I usually carry a J frame on my off side.

Hard to imagine Jayne not gripping the gun hard enough.
He's a closet savage! He walks softly, and carries a big stick.

My dad has one that seems to work pretty good. I def took a few hundred to break it in though. The recoil and mag springs were super stiff. They've gotten better. We didn't try any single hand rapid fire though.

I have a cw and have had no issues with any ammo. I don't recall even one FFT or FTE.

I carry a M&P BG off side, and it runs on 95 grain ammo Blazer Brass practice ammo and 90 grain Hydrashocks carry ammo.

I have a CW380 that runs very well. On the first trip to the range I fired at least 200 rounds. It stumbled a few times during the first 50 rounds but has been flawless after that. I've fired at least 500 rounds through it so far. 2 handed, 1 handed, death grip or loose grip it just runs.
I gave my daughter a Bodyguard 380. It's had at least a couple hundred rounds through the barrel with zero problems.

The cw380's are good pistols but they do require a break in period. Mine was about 3 or 4 boxes till it would run flawless. I broke it in with fmj magtech.

How many rounds through the LCP? You say you clean everytime after the range but have you replaced the recoil spring? Small pistols like the LCP are hard on recoil springs. Failure to return to battery is often a symptom.

~500 is my guess. I've got a heavier recoil spring, going to install that and give it a try this afternoon (time permitting).

Cool. The break-in doesn't bother me, as long as it works. I wouldn't carry a gun with less than 200 through it from any manufacturer.

With the new Wolff extra power recoil springs (it's actually 2, wrapped around each other sorta) it was 100% with 5 types of ammo. All fire done fast one handed just like I was trying last trip. Even did some 'dual wield' firing not one but TWO LCPs at the same time (friend had his new one we were testing out and everyone thought it would be a good idea for me to dual wield for some reason).

So now that my LCP is back to functional I can take my time looking for a cw380. Finally something to search for at a gun show!
