I'm interested in purchasing a P09 once I come up with some funds. Do you own one or have you shot one and if so what are your impressions of this handgun? Also, do you like the stock sights or have you changed them to something else and if so to what? Pics welcomed. Thanks.

I have one and like it a lot. Very easy to shoot accurately, and holds lots of ammo. It currently sees duty as a house gun, mounted up with an Inforce light.

The stock sights are okay, but one of the white dots on the rear sight came out, so I just dug the other one out to give it a plain appearance. I may upgrade the sights at some point. Apparently the disappearing dot is not uncommon on the PO9 and PO7.

The lost dot is the only negative I have. I've run at least a 1/2 dozen different loads through it with no failures of any kind. No steel or aluminum case ammo yet, though.

Dollar-for-dollar, I don't think you can beat it.

I have one, and it’s currently my favorite pistol. It’s as accurate as my Springfield TRP. I retired my glock 19’s after realizing how much I enjoyed it. It just points way more naturally for me. This is coming from a Glock fan since early 90s(I’ve got an early gen 2, a gen 4, a gen 5 19 and one gen 4 23) . Only negative is size, therefore I just purchased a P07 for warmer weather concealment. I personally am happy with the original sights and don’t plan to change them unless I have an issue(I’ve got trijicon HDs on my 19s).

P07 is my EDC. Love at first grip. Out of curiousity, OP, are you considering the safety or decocker variant (can be interchanged). Personally, I really like the decocker (let the hate begin!).

I have a p09 threaded barrel currently configured with the decocker. It’s an amazingly flat shooting pistol. It is however, huge so it’s mainly a range toy. When I looked at the smaller p07 I ended up going the p01 route instead.

Do it!

Of course, the love of my life is my CGW custom Shadow but, this gun (spouse's) and his little brother (P07) are favorites in this household.

Do CZ make any handguns that aren't excellent?

They have produced some stinkers here and there. The 40P and the CZ100 come to mind but for the most part they make quality guns.

Decocker setup. I'm not a fan of manual safeties. I want it to go bang when I pull the trigger without me having to think of taking an external safety off. My safeties are my brain and my trigger finger. All you have to do is use both of them wisely.

Now im

Now I'm wanting one more than ever after reading this!

That's already on my watch list lol! Twogunjay is on my favorite sellers list.

They always have good deals on CZs and Dan Wessons. I wish their shipping was a bit cheaper but you can't have everything. IF you contact them directly they can often beat the GB price they have listed.

Y'all are making me want to add a P07 to the stable.

I was actually in the market for a P07 when I bought the P09, but nobody around here had one in stock at that time but Gander Mountain in Gastonia, and they had a price of $699.00 on it, which was just a tad over MSRP. I ran into a P09 at Carolina Sporting Arms for a really fair price, and brought it home.

You know you want to ... you need to ...

If I hadn't traded into an HKP30L I would already own the P09. If you want a big gun that shoots straight and holds lots of ammo it is a good option. Enjoy your new gun. :D

Gander in Winston had the P07 at $474.

I’ve found rear dots to be a distraction. The fact they might voluntarily disappear on this gun is a feature IMO. As others have said, get it! You didn’t come here to get talked out of buying a new pistol did you?

I had a P09 but I didn't keep it very long. about the only gun with a double action trigger that was worse than my HK's!

the only CZ I've considered keeping was the Rami 2075BD. P10c didn't do much for me.

I shot a CZ75 orange tactical sport once and it was ridiculously sweet. the SA trigger felt like 2 pounds. regular 75B was only so so for me.

LIAR...... HERETIC.... You should be burned at the stake.!!!!! LOL

Stock CZs are not my favorite. With a little work they are pretty sweet.

Don’t believe this man. He is a HK fanboy. He would do anything to break up the CZ Club Med. If a woman ask you what kind of gun you have it’s better to lie about it being something other than a CZ than have her question the size of your manhood.

If CZ were not some of the best in the world then why have so many other manufacturers copied their design? But the truth is their DA trigger pull is not as good as it could be. The SA trigger pull is nice and the design is perfection. Here that Glock, perfection.

That's a decent deal for a brick-and-mortar store. I think I paid $477.00 for my P09 at CSA several years ago when P07's were scarce. I was at Gander in Gastonia yesterday afternoon, and I don't think they had any CZ's in stock. Maybe they had some P10's.

Just bought one. You won’t be sorry. It’s my 5th CZ and I love them all.

I have a CZ P09 and like it. I bought it used, it has the night sights that have to be charged with a flashlight. I would rather have tritium type sights.

It shoots well and has been very reliable. The DA trigger pull is nothing to brag about, but the follow up SA trigger pulls are good.

The safety on it can be configured for either manual safety or decocker. Mine is setup for decocker. I think with the addition of a light, and swapping out the sights for a tritium set, it would make an excellent home defense gun, with 18 round capacity.

Speaking of CZ, the main reason I bought this is because I already had several Witness pistols (CZ pattern) that I absolutely love. Thought I would get a real CZ, and I have not been disappointed. The wife even went out and bought a CZ 97B because she liked her 9mm Witness so much. The CZ is her favorite range gun.

I have two P-09's, one in .40 one in 9mm. Possibly the most under rated (or best kept secret) guns on the market. Very few poly guns shoot as soft and flat as a P-09 and for accuracy I will put my P-09 up against anything mass produced. I have shot many 1" groups at 25 yds off a rest with a wide variety of my own handloads, I have even shot a 4" group at 100 yds with it and that was with out any special load development, just some random 90gr JHP rounds I had loaded and was just using up while at the range one day. Its not a perfect gun, I don't like the stock sights much and don't care for the stock fire control parts. A Cajun race hammer and lighter springs have really made mine a sweet shooter. The grip isn't my favorite either, it feels kind of overly oblong in my hand and I prefer something a little rounder with more palmswell, so I took care of that too with some moldable glue ( hard to describe, I will put a pic below).

Turned mine into a cheap open class shooter for USPSA with the addition of a red dot sight and compensator and have shot it for about a year and a half using major power factor 9mm ammo. Lord only knows how much Ive run through it but nothing has broken with the exception of one trigger return spring, but that's a kind of known wear item on these guns and not unexpected.

After all I have put it through it will still shoot 1" groups off a rest with a wide variety of my handloads, providing I can do my part. Its a fairly large gun, if it fits your hands its hard to go wrong with one.
