Considering a CZ P10 45 ACP for occasional heavy metal 3 gun, range use, and around the house/end table/night stand. I currently have a 5" railed single stack 1911 as my only full sized 45. I'll list what I've already tried, since I have a policy that I try to stick to, which is "don't buy it again, until you've tried everything else". Needs to be a 4-5" 45 with at least a 10 round capacity.

Have owned and shot (most in matches)

Walther PDQ 45
Glock 21, 41, 36
FN 45
XDM 45
XDS 45
HK fullsize 45 (the new one)
1911. 3", 4", and 5" single stack

I like the new FN 45, but not willing to spend @1K on something I won't shoot that much. I've held one and think it's overpriced for what it is. As a frugal man and a Ruger fan, I'm also considering the Ruger American. Is there something else I should consider? Double stack Para 45?

Thanks in advance.

I like the FNX 45. The non tactical one is $700 msrp so you can find it for less.

I'm not the most well versed on full size 45s, but I had a FNX45T for a while, currently own a G21 that's pretty tricked out, and also own a few CZP10s.

To me the FNX45 was cool for it's time, but the trigger is atrocious and I never really enjoyed shooting it, just looking at it 🤣.

I love my G21, like any other Glock you can do whatever you want to it, mine has an aftermarket optic cut, irons forward of the dot configuration, magwell, actually on a line wolf frame, etc and it's probably my favorite non-competiton pistol.

The CZ P10 series have amazing factory triggers, great capacity, and great factory stippling. I probably have some 15k odd rounds through my 2 and love them, granted I have no experience with the 45.

Not sure I said anything particularly substantive, but I hope this helps!

I have FNX 45. Great shooter out of the box great feel to it. 15 round Mag. Have had a Glock 36 also. Not bad biggest opportunity is if you have large hands grips are smaller and has 6 round Mag. Good size for CC though.

When did CZ start making the P10 in 45 acp? I missed that one. Although I can’t find it on their site. Is this a limited edition or something?

I’m not a huge 45 auto nut, but my preferences would be:

Glock 41/21
HK45
beretta PX4
sig P220/227

I'm pretty sure they've discontinued the 45 acp version of the P10c. Although, I couldn't find it in their discontinued products section.

Reddit seems to agree, for what that's worth:

Assuming it is discontinued, I'd highly recommend against get one in that case. Finding mags will be next to impossible, aftermarket support will be non-existent and support from CZ (i.e. replacement parts) will be limited as well.

Save yourself the headache and get something different to scratch that itch.

Dang. I was afraid of that. One or two dealers on Gunbroker have a bunch. My dealer couldn't get me a new one, didn't think about it being discontinued. Just checked out the Beretta. I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit. LOL.

It is really, really nice, but for that price, I'd like it to have a 5" barrel to give me a longer sight radius with irons. I may end up with one eventually. I actually like their new High Power better (IF I were willing to spend @1K on a handgun right now).

Leaning toward the Ruger American for the price. Or another 1911 or even the Glock again (21, 41, Gen 4/5).

The only ones of your options that I have experience with are the HK45T, HK45C, 1911 govt profile and, Glock 41.

And my wife has a Ruger American 45 pro-duty.

The HK45T had a lem trigger which is great feeling with the draw length double action with the trigger weight of single action. The suppressor height sights were too tall for my tastes.

The HK45C is just a slightly smaller HK45 it had the da/sa trigger. Smooth but heavy da and nice crisp sa.

The Glock 41 is just fat. I know it's got more capacity than the HK45 but I don't like the grip.

The wife's Ruger is a good compromise in cost and quality. The trigger isn't as good as the others but I like the true ambidextrous controls.

If you want a cz inspired pistol SAR USA imports the K2 for a good price. Though I can't speak to the quality as I've never handled one.

Would you say the Ruger's trigger is worse than the HKT?

I ask because I thought the trigger on my H&Kt should have been better at that price point. At the Ruger price point, I'd be okay with it. I agree that the G41 is just too fat. Main reason I sold mine. I don't love the Gen 5 21 grip either. If I went Glock, I'd probably go Gen 4 21 and buy a Lone wolf frame and worry about an optic cut later or just live with the G5, no more than I'd shoot it.

Still considering buying the CZ and 4 or 5 mags with the understanding that I probably won't shoot it enough to break anything and if I do I understand that I'll need to return it to the mothership. My local gunsmith confirmed yesterday that CZ would not send him parts, which is why he recommended that I not buy a Scorpion that has been calling out to me. LOL.

I'd say the Ruger has a worse trigger but it's not like it's bad. It's more of striker gun vs hammer gun worse than it's a bad trigger. It's still many times better than some other striker guns I've shot.

I'd buy the CZ. My 9mm P-10F has been fantastic.
CZ discontinues guns constantly. They then release a similar one the next year. Maybe an OR one is in the works.

Gregg Kote has magazines.

This is me exactly fwiw 🤣. Optic cut by jagerworks. Super happy with it.

I really like the look of that frame. Now I'm leaning toward a G4 G21 or 30 and the Timberwolf Frame. Hard to get excited about the Ruger.

Talk me out of a S&W 4506 for @$600 with 1 mag.
After all the help you guys were when I asked the same thing about the last CZ i bought? Suck it up and go for it, you know you want it. I don't regret my purchase at all and you won't either.
I am not an enabler, nor do I play one on TV, I have however stayed at a Holiday Inn,

I like the RI 1911's but I'm trying to only buy US made 1911's. Same think/thing that keeps me from buying a Rossi lever gun.

Handled the S&W 4506, SIG 320 45, Glock 41 and 21 (G4 & 5), and SIG 220 again yesterday at the Asheville show (quick @1.5 hour run through). I want to handle the Ruger American 45 and the CZ 97 45 before I decided. Nothing yesterday made me want to part with the @$600-$700 they were asking. I feel like I spent as much time talking to tire kickers on the guns I was carrying around as I did shopping. Folks kill me. LOL. At least no one made a counter offer on my asking price (which was a first). Maybe I had them priced right. Ruger I was carrying around was priced at $830 on a dealers table. Another dealer tries to tell me he can order it for less than $600. LOL.

I'll keep you posted. Sorely tempted by the CZ 97 45 listed here, but have never held or shot one and the I'm not sure I want to spend that much on an "occasional" shooter.

If you like Glocks at all, I think the G21 is a no brainer. Mine is a laser beam and shoots soft. Mags are fairly cheap. Accessories and mods abound. If anything ever happens, they’ll fix it.

I also like the fact that Glock doesn’t jump all over the place for the most part. All gens have mag compatibility and most parts compatibility. They don’t have a ridiculous hard to understand catalog (looking at you Sig). They kinda just do their thing and do it well.
