This one got me out of all planning responsibilities for our wedding.

Immediately after proposing, it was endless plan-this, plan-that, what-about-this, do-you-think-we-should...blah, blah, blah...

That all stopped the moment she asked me if there were any scripture verses I wanted read at our wedding.

I picked up her Mom's KJ Bible, cracked it open to 1 Timothy 2:12 and read:

"I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

She said "No." With "The Look".

After that my sole responsibility was to show up on time in my tux.

I count that as a win.

Sometimes I like pondering the different translations of Luke 2:14.
Check out JB Phillips translation every once in a while. He’s on old English “padre" who wrote a great devotional book my grand dad gave me almost fifty years ago, and a bunch of other books.
 
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,

Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

That moral excellence is a tall fence to climb over consistently, at least for me it is.

KJV is how I learned it, but I usually read from ESV:

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

your post reminded me of the Acts of the Apostkes 4:35

”And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.”

I have believed in Him for 59 years and ive been diligently seeking Him for 3 years. He does prove to be a rewarder of those who seek Him as this verse states.

Hebrews 13: 5-8

Let your life be free from love of money but be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never forsake you or abandon you."

Thus we may say with confidence: "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?"

Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
