What do you guys think of these commander sized 1911s? I have read they are semi custom hand fitted production 1911s with no mim parts? I have never had or held a dan wesson firearm but they look very interesting.

As long as it’s 45acp it should run fine. I wouldn't buy one in 9mm. I’ve owned one, sold it. Had a friend do likewise. Both guns wouldn’t run as well as they needed to for competition, or personal defense.

Fine 1911s. Dan Wesson is owned by CZ. And the workmanship, fit and finish is on a par with CZ high end guns.

Great trigger, stellar accuracy and very reliable. Priced slightly higher than the very pretty, pretty worthless, Kimbers.

While I don't care forr the look of the rounded butt Bobtail, it feels GREAT in the hand and makes the gun a natural pointer. Buy it, shoot it, love it. Regards 18DAI

Dan Wesson 1911's are excellent. The Commander size and the BobTail were not for me..... personal preference, or I was stubborn to change? I think I felt lit like the original Govt size was about perfect.

Excellent guns. I have an original CBOB Commander and a Valkyrie in 9mm. Guns run 100%. They are the best production 1911 under $2000 IMHO.

They are not semi-custom or hand fitted in any way. They don't have MIM but they are production guns. Extremely good production guns. They are a gateway drug to higher end 1911s. The next step up from them are Les Baers IMHO if you like the LB aesthetic and build philosophy. I liked Dan Wesson better when they were $1200 to $1500 guns. Don't let @fieldgrade scare you off them in 9mm. He has yet to find a 1911 in 9mm he couldn't break. LOL

DW 1911s are great guns. Sold my .45 CBOB in a moment of stupidity, but still have my .45 PM-7. Id love to get my mitts on the 6" Bruin to run .45 Super.

Took the Valor to the range and put 100 rounds threw it. It shot well except for the brass hitting me in the face and landing on the brim of my hat. Had smudge marks on my cheek, so not very happy with it for that. The brass I think is hitting the back of the ejection port and then bouncing on the top of the slide and making marks on it. I didn't expect to have a problem with it at price it costs but these things happen I guess. Just filled out the form to send it back and hope I won't have to wait months to get it back and it's fixed. It also dented about 25 of the 100 casings that it ejected.

I had a kimber 10mm that I sold to a forum member and it ran flawless!
And it still does🤪
That Longslide eats everything it is fed, and is great for long range steel thanks to the RMR. I liked it so much I bought a 5” model from another forum member that was 9 years into the 10 year Nightsight warranty. Kimber replaced both sights for free, including shipping both ways. After buying two UltraCarry .45ACP models and using one for CCW and Steel Challenge without any issues, I don’t worry about any of them. Run them a little oily with Wilson magazines. If you don’t like them, sell them to me cheap🥳

I'm so glad you are enjoying it and kimber took care of you on the sights. You wouldn't want to buy a Dan Wesson would you? I'll sell it for what I paid For it Lol. Just kidding though I am disappointed in it. It was my birthday yesterday and traded my 500 magnum for the valor thinking it would be my only higher end 1911. I dread sending it back and have no idea how there customer service is.

If I had to guess your extractor is losing control of the case before hit the ejector. The round is being throw back at your face by the slide because it was not "guided" out by the ejector. My WAGs is that the extractor is out of spec, has a burr on it or is not properly tensioned. I assume this is a NIB gun.

Yes new in box gun. Turned out that the extractor was too tight. Took it out lightly bent it, put it back checked it if it would still hold the round when shaking the slide. Took it to the range today and it ran flawless. 100 rounds. It threw most of the caseings about 6 foot to my right in a beach ball sized spot.
