I am thinking about moving my VA care to these facilities. Can anyone give me insight. I have had the best and worst of care in Durham NC. Lately it's gravitated to the worst. What is the level of care in Va?

Have you thought about Kernersville?

No complaints here..

I'm looking at all options. At least the 3 I have for now. I've heard a lot of good about Kernersville. I don't relish the idea of driving to Salisbury for the speciality clinics. I 85 is too intense for me.

Kernersville has all the specialty clinics too, just no emergency room, I don't go to Salisbury unless I absolutely have to because of how badly they've treated me. I have great doctors at kernersville

No help to the OP, but SO glad I have Tricare & don't have to deal with the VA, especially with UNC just down the road.

Cost me 20 years & 5 months of my life. Bit of an unfair trade if you ask me, but glad AF I have it, expecially with the missus' issues.

No routine care at that facility (salem), but they did my shoulder surgery and the care was excellent

Yessirreeeeee! After 23 yrs, 5 mo and 17 days (not that I was counting) with Tricare for Life and Medicare I have been far more blessed than I deserve!

But grateful!

I have only heard extremes from folks regarding VA care. Either it's better than they ever expected or the other extreme which has created some terrible outcomes!

This is no different than private sector care. Look up some the facilities you've received care at and you'll probably be surprised.

Just from the way I've been treated by VA employees over the phone & the horror stories coming out of VA facilities, I'm not taking the chance. Over the last 11 years, we've shifted all of our healthcare to UNC & a very good orthopedic/rheumatology practice & couldn't be happier.

I hate it for y'all who have to depend on the VA for healthcare. I mean, I'm glad it's there for you, but it scares the crap outta me.

I did a rotation at a Salem VA clinic and thought it was solid. The people I worked with in particular were great though I know my preceptor was snatched up by Johns Hopkins.

My company deals with the med/surg (prosthetics and logistics) departments of the VA - and I've been visiting them for years. First of all, Im not a patient so I don't get to experience the service - but I will say, the new facility in Kernersville is outstanding. Friendly staff, up to date equipment, super clean environment.
