Looking at buying a Delta in the next couple of days. Love 1911's so that's not what I'm asking. Never had a 10. Are they fun to shoot. Reliable with the extra power. Ext... And to reiterate I do not want a Glock, Springfield, or another brand. I'm looking at the Delta.

If you love 1911’s one is a must. I will be honest though mine rarely gets out though … I’m a bad owner.

If its what you want, Get it!

I like mine. They are certainly classics.

I have several 10mm 1911’s and recently I bought a Goock. Great guns all and a great cartridge, but. The 1911s throw empties 50 to 75 feet away. Glock maybe 30 feet out. Load your own or go broke. All of my 1911s have supported chambers. I don’t think the Colt did originally, maybe not even now?
Easy to load for and accurate, but recoil bothers many who have tried mine.
Getcha one or two🤑🤑

It's not a screaming deal but it's not overpriced. As long as it's still there when I can get down to it (they close before I get off work) it will be mine. I used to reload, but got out of it. Only have shotgun reloading stuff left.

I don't reload, but the issue is the same for me: off caliber, what the heck am I going to do with it? Would not be a carry gun.

That said, to me, the Colt Delta Elite is the consumate 10mm pistol.

Of course, once you DO... you'll want a S&W 1006, next. ;)

I carried one from '91 - '03, but started transitioning to all 1911's in .45 after 9/11. That, and Smith stopped making the 1006 in '99 - mags were starting to dry up, and 10mm was starting to disappear. If I'd known the caliber was going to make such a comeback, I'd of NEVER gotten rid of mine.

The only thing I EVER replaced on it were... EMPTY mags.

my first 1911 was a delta elite.

don’t have it anymore but it was my favorite 1911 (shame on my not having a single 1911)

Tuned ejector and/or heavier recoil spring can help reduce brass launch. 10mm is an absolute beast.

Delta are fine. But they lack a supported chamber. Which can lead to some issues with true 10mm loads. Seen a few over the years. But if you are firing target stuff I won't worry.

...a flat bottom firing pin stop, and a heavier (or even "stock" weight) mainspring can work wonders.

But this is true for any 1911 though.

They close to early. Saturday is the day. Maybe. My wife is going windsurfing while our son and myself go kayaking that day.

That's good to know. Thought it was just mine. No one at the range is safe from brass fallout when I pull that thing out. Just ask my wife. No matter where she stands she ends up getting pinged with one. :D

Bought one as a gift for myself when I graduated nursing school. It's my favorite 1911. I've had no issues and absolutely love it. I really am not a huge 1911 guy, if that tells you anything.

Here's a picture of it in Alaska loaded with some stupid hot hand loads just in case.Screenshot_20210904-085406.png
