I am from the government and you will do as told because i am here to help.

Eric Garcetti, the Democratic mayor of Los Angeles, announced Tuesday that power and water will be shut off for nonessential businesses that refuse to close amid California's coronavirus "safer at home" order, KTLA-TV reported.

What are the details?
"If we see continued noncompliance, they'll wind up facing misdemeanor charge, and [the Department of Water and Power] will step in and shut off their water and power," Garcetti remarked. "You know who you are, you need to stop it. This is your chance to step up and shut it down — because if you don't, we will shut you down."

Calling such businesses that don't voluntarily shut their doors "irresponsible and selfish," Garcetti unveiled the city's "business ambassadors program," which is designed to convince nonessential businesses to close, the station said.

Garcetti said neighborhood prosecutors will implement safety measures and contact noncompliant businesses before the city flips the switches on them, KTLA said.

"The easiest way to avoid a visit is to follow the rules," the mayor added, according to the station.

Real original mayor. You stole that play right out of the Iraq war handbook

No doubt they will storm the business using the same tactics that the California Air Resources Board uses. Hot Rod magazine was doing a photo shoot at a well known custom car shop in LA. CARB arrived in full SWAT gear with AR rifles for an annual inspection of the business to verify they are compliant with CARB and the painting facility inside the business. They ordered all security cameras turned off and kicked out the magazine crew.

My company is listed as essential and one of our centers in florida got a visit from the cops today, trying to force them to shut down. I'm told another county up in michigan is saying because it is impossible for us, while being part of a CDC listed essential industry, to do our jobs from 6 feet away from the people we see, all our centers there have to close.

Not sure how a county can imagine itself up enough power to override federal guidelines... but i guess we'll find out.

Cops don’t need to understand or know the exact rules, just think that they’re following the rules. We’ve had this discussion in several threads.

well last I checked LA was in a dry area of the county. Probably wouldn't be too hard to shut off their water and power eventually from another part of California.

yeah yeah, heine v nc. I'm not even talking about cops at this point, i'm talking about local government idiots just plain saying they override everybody.
i've recently told my family that once i no longer have a wife to worry about, they can expect my most likely method of death to be in a shootout with govt thugs.
